DeHahn doesn't skate as well as his early years in the league.
- jhawk59

He is fasts enough to sign a PTO with Carolina today.

A line with Reichel and Teply. Could be the secondary scoring line. I see improvement from both players as a key. Slavin could become a good bottom line player too

If the defense is good to hang around in most games....then we need more scoring. Hence a Reichel/Teply line.

- jhawk59

Teply hasn't figured out where to when he finally can skate as well as DeHaan.

Bobby Hull must have been in the area too, I played against his kids when they were with the Elmhurst Huskies.

How about Roberto’s? Is it still there?

Welcome Zach and good luck. There should definitely be plenty of material this season.

In regards to de Haan, other than a short period when Keith was out of the lineup injured and de Haan played well for 6 weeks or so, his tenure with the Hawks was mostly.....well......brutal. As a "veteran" he made a whole ton of mistakes in reads, poor passes, etc. that just shouldn't happen. Not really surprised than nobody would give up any type of asset for him given his showing over the last year+ of his time here, regardless of his injury status

- TheTrob

Welcome aboard Zach and best of luck with this rowdy bunch.....

Agreed Trob....shows you that there was essentially NO Market for DeHaan for at the deadline when so many here were ready to hang KD.....a guy doesn't get a PTO if he had value. DeHaan was just injury prone and lost whatever speed he had left. I won't miss him back peddling into his own goalie's line of sight on an incoming rush.

Boy, i am relieved!

I just watched Artemi planarian's ten greatest hight goals and only one was will a Blackhawk.

I was starting to think we lost that trades for Saad...

Maybe. But there might be some value to keeping him in RFD most of the year. Give him a taste of the bigs as a reward for all the hard work so far, but in general I might be inclined to keep him away from the NHL mess. Let him build chemistry and a winning culture in the AHL with his future NHL teammates. Most of the guys on the big club will be ex-teammates in pretty short order.
- Ogilthorpe2

I don't disagree with this reasoning but on the flip side....what else is there in Rockford for Reichel to prove? Also, isn't also time to start to see if a guy like Reichel can start to become a building block for the next wave of players? Again, I am not giving up on Reichel but the key here for Davidson is accumulating as many assets as possible in picks or highly regarded prospects. Outside of Kane and Toews what current player on this team is going to fetch that for him?

I think you let Reichel start the year in Chicago and see if he can dent the net and hopefully that takes the pressure off of him and gives him confidence he can score at this level as well.

I’m going with Faulkner. Obviously all she is doing is creating distractions and making employees engage on social media. 😉🤣
- Chunk

Faulkner seems to be Danny's hatchet man as much as McEgo was Rocky's. Not a pleasant role for her, and she'll take some heat....but lets see how she helps transitions this team from the golden age to the next one. She has a massive up hill climb in front of her. Unlike that snake hiding in his bunker in Elk Grove Village, she isn't armed with multiple young stars, and a team on the brink. McEgo had 1 non playoff year, helped push Josh Mora to curb, and then Q took it from there.....

She's got....what? At least 5 years maybe as much as 7 until they are competitive again? Been awhile but I thought that was the timeline Danny Wirtz laid out....5-7 years.

Aidan Thompson (forward, playing this year at Denver U), one of the third round picks this year, is all that's left from trading Panarin.

So there's still a chance. But not really.

Oh man, the Huskies were a helluv an organIzation back then. Played both the Huskies Black and Red and they were beasts.

Huskies Black guy here. What year did the guy score on you from the far blue line? And was the guy killing a penalty?

Thanks for the welcome!

I have always been a reader, found this site my sophomore year of high school when it first got going. Excited to get deeper into it and interacting with all of you!

Welcome Zach lots going on with the hawks. I your opinion does Seth Jones get traded? We already know towes and Kane will be when and for what is anyone's guess. That's for another blog down the road on what the returns would be.

Don't care if you were the 13th forward on a Huskies Black squad, you had a helluva lotta game!! Those teams were fantastic and could blow people out at invite tournaments. I'm impressed.

This would have been 1975ish. Not sure if it was Pee Wees or Bantams, not sure what tournament or arena. Great question if that goal was on the PK or a period was down to a few seconds for him to shoot from his blueline but he did. Don't remember.

This 12-13 yr old had a shot like an 18-19 yr old. Kinda shot that could/would hurt you as a goalie never mind a forward or Dman. In fact he took 7-8 shots from inside his attack zone, felt like 78 shots, and everyone in front of him on both teams scattered and got the hell outa the way. Not even a pretense of blocking that howitzer. So I saw every shot fine and stopped em all except for that one from his blueline.

The shot started off head high, above the crossbar, as a screaming saucer, maybe 100 ft out it started to wobble/knuckle then dove down into the ice 2-3 ft in front of me so I went down to frame it and it bounced right over my shoulder top shelf... Kinda like a shortstop caught on an in between hop that eats you up. Looking back I was too deep in my net but never thought it would dive like it did.

Do you remember that kid? Playing rat as a 20 something I faced plenty of D1 and even pro shooters but this kid to this day was the scariest shooter I ever faced. If you are near his age and were a Husky you know him. Were you that monster???

My first IL state championship was at the old outside Y. I was a 'mite' so it would have probably been '68 or '69. We won, don't remember who we beat.

Welcome Zach. I look forward to reading your blogs this year. A lot of the newer fans you mentioned were pretty much here for the party. Kind of like me with the 90's Bulls. I've seen it first hand with many 20's & 30's somethings I know or work with. Winning is fun. They're long gone now. With the exception of the Mike Smith/Alpo era, if there is a Blackhawks game being played, it will be on in my house. This year I'll be watching to see growth & improvement. I look forward to your take on that. Good luck!

Aren't we rollin' here, and we are in the abyss where most movement is done, and pre-season is not here?

I’m not a Hawks fan, but I can offer words of consolation for fans about to spin into supreme suckitude. I’m a Sabres fan - I know!

I now live in Portugal but once traveled extensively and was able to combine responsibility with passion. I have visited nearly every barn in the NHL and many AHL, ECHL, NCAA venues. My favorite barn, May it rest it peace, was the Joe in Detroit.

But favorite place to watch hockey was Chicago. You combined midwestern hospitality with conviviality and plenty of awareness of the game. You’re gonna have that broadshouldered hospitality and knowledge of the game throughout the looming, uhm, dryspell. I’ll be watching and hoping you get through it with minimal pain.

Not really a Jfresh guy but I see good things here. Stats earned in a 3yr period, De haan played for a horrid coach and bad teams those 3 yrs and earns a 74 percentile at 5 on 5 in the whole league? Versus the top 91% competition! ......... Slot this guy properly on a real NHL team with real coaching and he's useful. Add his size and grit and he's beyond useful.

This is a good, cool and thoughtful post. Thanks for taking the time.... Love watching the evolution of the Sabres the last couple yrs, especially since Granato was inserted as coach. He's good. Fantastic hockey city and its fans deserve so much more.

Yo Wiz, solid article on Cole Eiserman and U of MN going outside the state to recruit an east coast kid, something that rarely happens. Solid read.

According to JFresh and his cards, Murphy is borderline all star.
