I sincerely doubt any of you have read a single lick of Poe and just watched The Simpsons and think you're a Richardensian scholar.

Pretty sure that's the extent of my knowledge of his writings, but I ain't gonna claim otherwise.

I think my favourite part was the it became official minutes after Spector said Edmonton wanted him, but ZAR wanted the Leafs.
- GreatGigInTheSky

Since it's the Leafs, they'll end up not signing him, he'll go on to sign with EDM and him Hyman and Campbell all win the cup...

I think Edmonton is closer to missing the playoffs than they are to winning the Cup.

But maybe that's just me.

I see Edmonton making the playoffs.

Campbell isn't perfect, but he's miles better than Mike Smith. That's bound to help alot.

I think they get a lot of heat but hey did make the conf finals last year and play in a bit of an easier division. They're a consistent playoff team and have a couple of centres that can carry them when fully healthy. They'll get some decent looks at the finals with some luck.

I think they will, too. Their division isn't overly good. I meant that I find it more likely they'd miss than win the Cup.

Mike Smith has performed just as good as JC the last few years.

Both haven't done much in the playoffs.

An upgrade? Probably.

Is it going to add more wins? Maybe 1 or 2 but not worth the financial cost.

They got all the luck last season and got swept by the only good team they faced.

McJesus and Drystltieilieale are great and all, but the rest of the team is a complete nothing burger.

Poe and Richardens were very different. Is this covered by the Simpsons? I think the Simpsons is a great show but I never watched it regularly. I was a joint English/History major in undergrad but didnโ€™t study Poe. I did read his great poem Canadian Railroad Trilogy though.

Pacific Division should too. Campbell is a very emotional goalie who can use that positive emotion when things are going well. When things turn bad he can get down on himself and things can get away from him. *Checks Oilers D* Enjoy the money, Jack.

Campbell gave the Leafs a chance to win their last two playoffs series.

The Oilers had to win despite Mike Smith.

It's not even close really. And again, I'm not saying Campbell is amazing, he's a decent starter while Mike Smith is/was done.

I'm sure he'll enjoy the money and the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Nah, they proved last year that they're a solid playoff team in the west for the foreseeable future.

I mean, he had brainfarts that literally cost the Leafs wins in both series.

I agree Campbell > Smith, though.

He was not good at all last years series vs TBay and the year prior vs Habs - classic bad timing weak goals against.

I agree with Smith comment - heโ€™s squirrely

Campbell is not a legit NHL stand alone starter. Never has been since being drafted a long long while ago - never will be.

They proved that they can beat a team that really shouldn't be in the playoffs (in 7 games) and another team that got caught in the emotions of the Battle of Alberta and played directly into their game.

Once they faced an actual team, they got decimated.
