Hoffman will be next season, still has 2 years left on his deal
- fidopro

Well he just had the worst season of his career.

Maybe he remembers how to score and some team gets desperate for scoring enough to grab him for the whole 2 years?

That was only because they had to make room before signing him back then. Montreal swooped in and stole him from the Blues before they could.

But yeah, he sucks.

Even the years he was injured Drouin was producing at a 50 points pace. I know it's probably not what Bergevin was expecting when he made the trade, but I think it's time to accept that Drouin is what he is.

It's not his fault that the team sacrificed their best D prospect (back then) to get him. Personally, I was excited about the trade. I was sad to see Sergachev go, but I thought it was refreshing to see a local guy being excited to play here and sign a long term contract right away.

At this point, I think management just hopes he has a good season so they can flip him at the deadline. I don't think there is a future for him here anyways, and it's better this way for both parties.

Drouin would get a chance to play without the heat of being in a market always looking for their next local boy hope.

Fans will need to turn their ire on somebody else (I expect David Savard to be next).

Lets just hope the Dach trade does not turn into Sergachev-Drouin V2.0

well the salary and term are more digestible, and I doubt Romanov has more upside than Sergachev...

Yeah, Romanov is a solid #4, don't think he will be more. But the dude works hard and loves the game, so who knows.

I am a lot more comfortable with this trade than the Drouin trade, given all the baggage that Drouin came in with from the end of his tenure with TB.

At least Dach is a "real center", not a "square peg in a round whole" center.

I still wish the habs could've kept Romanov, but you gotta give to get... agreed on the "real center" thing, although Dach really needs to work on his faceoffs, that's one aspect of his game that can definitely be improved, so I'm not too worried about that.

Guess we will see if his wrist is really better and how much that can improve.

If he can get anywhere close to 50% this year, that will be significant.

I was trying to find his FO stats in junior but couldn't find them, just to get an idea of where he was at before the NHL, so if anyone has them and can post the link that would be nice... not sure if it was all related to his injury (Scotty Bowman said the hawks traded him specifically because of this lol) but like I was saying, no matter what they are though I'm positive it's something he can work on. I mean, as a center he kinda has to, winning faceoffs is a pretty damn important aspect of the game lol

he's 21. most centers have not played a single game in the NHL at that age.
he'll be fine.

oh I'm sure he'll be fine, but it might be more of a struggle for him for FOs if he already had poor numbers in junior (which I kind of doubt for a 3rd overall pick...).

The Chicago Hockey Club rushed him into the league to show their bandwagon fanbase a new toy to present hope instead of letting him dominate juniors until he aged out.

they weren't great but better than 31%. He gets no leverage for a big guy. last season was pretty bad cause he was getting beat clean so you couldn't put much of the blame on his wingers

I'm rather confused about some of the trades they did, they're obviously aiming for a rebuild but could've kept some of the pieces they let go instead of giving up on them.

at least for once the fanbase knows what to expect, beside a few dumb farts that will still complain, everyone is aware that they won't be in "win now" mode for a few years...

We cannot rule out the possibility of him being molested by the video coach either

KD went from having no 1st RD picks to having 3. debrincat wasn't ready to talk extension according to some reports. sold really high on hagel and bet on the erosion of TB moving forward. hagel shooting % was 23 at the time of the trade. he isn't going to come close to that again. appears Kd was not a fan of dach's from the start so sent him packing.

may as well go big on the rebuild instead of lingering in mediocrity for years.

oh well I guess it's not impossible, but I wouldn't even extrapolate on this, whatever comes out of it will be dealt with once the investigation is done.

yeah there are always multiple aspects to consider when it comes to trading players, if CHI management deemed it wasn't worth moving forward with those guys then might as well deal them away now.
