While not rookies you are going to see young guys like Kurashev (22) Raddysh (24) getting a chance at a much bigger role this season. You have to imagine too that the line blender will still be in full effect so there is a chance any one on the roster gets a chance with Kane. Some more younger players that might get more of a look this year include Entwistle (23) Katchouk (24) Barratt (23) Teply (21) Guttman (23).

I guess but my guess is none of them are on the team in 2 seasons. Entwistle and Katchouk playing with Kane seem farfetched but then Lafferty di so who knows.

Barrett and Teply don't seem to be in the new regime's favor. I think some are thinking guys signed for RFD will be getting a chance. RFD was very short of forwards before the signings and my opinion is they were signed to fill spots on the Piggies.

Until they get out there for training camp this week and preseason games going its all speculation. Very curious how Richardson is going to handle lines compared to the blender method that Colliton and Q had.

Obvious question is why not in the summer. Is this a way to put a salary on IR, waiting until show time?

They probably went through like they do when someone gets hurt at work, rest, therapy, ..... and here we are. Cheapest to most expensive

McCabe was a big part of why they sucked last year. Based on last years performance, him not being on the ice is an improvement in the defense.

LA, this might have been one of the reasons he sucked so much last year. He was literally a step behind on every play and in many games one of the worst players on the ice. He looked terrible out there probably because he was still recovering from his knee injury and had this back injury.

Not having McCabe on the ice (how he played last year) actually makes the Hawks a better team this year.

True, wish him good health and to see him fully recovered in December, but to say the Hawks are going to be so much worse this year, based upon his play last year is kind of hyperbole.

Interesting how a signing that made zero sense when made makes sense now.

Obviously one of the reasons that McCabe wasn't dealt in the offseason, and Murphy's uncertain status the reason he is still on the roster also.

I guess the Hawks valued one year of J. johnson greater than 1 year of daHaan.

Further down in that tweet thread is news that prospect Jaylen Lupen will be out for 14-18 weeks after left rotator cuff surgery.

Keep on tanking!

Right now, the D would consist of the following on opening night (barring any further injuries):

S. Jones
C. Jones
Murphy
Johnson
Stillman

That leaves 2 spots open and they could be anywhere in the bottom 2 pairs. I don’t expect Johnson to be a full-time NHLer. Ideally, he jumps into the lineup occasionally to give a rookie the night off.

Regula, Mitchell and Vlasic are the top candidates going into camp. I feel that the organization won’t want to rush Vlasic and unless he absolutely dominates he’ll start the season in Rockford. My guess is what Regula and Mitchell start with the Hawks on opening night.

That being said, none of the rookies are a lock to stay on the roster so things could look very different 1 month into the season.

I wonder is David Rundblad is available to be the Hawks #7 / #8 d-man?

McCabe was better when paired with Regula than Murphy, just saying

That's not an issue since Vlasic will be paired with Jones
