Super pumped to see that scrimmage last night. Get to the computer at 9:00 the link at the Hawk's site was dead, said game starts shortly. Went to their Youtube channel, nuttin. Checked at 4:00 AM, nuttin. Checked at 9:00 AM, nuttin. No recap at their site.

No idea how you guys saw the scrimmage. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

Watched the Wings-Jackets game yesterday afternoon. Game is still on the Youtube channel. All kinds of recaps/analysis of the game still available. ..... Hawk's game, jack. Nuttin. ..... Jamie and her obsession with presentation/social media/new age approach/reinvent the wheel/ALL tv and radio changed dropped the ball.

A lot of centers in the lineup playing wing. Hayes on L1, Slavin on L2 (have a feeling the smart, two way, good sized Slavin will endear himself to Richardson), Barratt on L3..... Interesting Richardson has Vlasic with offensive rookie Korchinski. .... Looking forward to seeing Allan's progress after having been drafted 2 yrs ago. Phillips too, kid is a fine athlete, big and can really skate.. Del Mastro looks good every time I've seen him. He had a fine WJC a few weeks back with Canada. Smart, keep it simple, good size and can skate..... First look at Roos.

Fantastic to see, Slavin wearing the C for this game vs MN.

5 minutes in first thoughts were Dach's skating has really improved. Listed at 6ft 4in 200lbs the kid can really move. Aggressive, shoots the thing from anywhere and pressures the puck..... This kid just might fit eventually.

Not sure how much Richardson's style is implemented in this thing with Sorensen being the coach but the D is really aggressive. Not just in the Ozone but all over the ice. They really gap up quickly all over, especially at the redline. And that is with every Dman......

As the 1st went on seems aggressive is the key word. Seems the Hawks wanna out man the puck in all 3 zones but especially in the neutral and Ozone.. They're playing a lot below the endline and there is always support, 2 men below the goal line. Some nice cycles of the puck and players along the endwall, centerman below the dots and Dmen always ready to jump in all the way to the endwall. Aggressive...... So when they lose the puck deep a lot of bodies to challenge the opponent immediately. Aggressive.

Big question for me was will the Hawks play a passive counter attack style or aggressive speed game fitting the kind of players they are drafting under a new coach and GM. If this is a peek into that it will be an aggressive speed style of play.

Honest question? ..... A grinding possession tactic in the Ozone generally by 2 or 3 men along the walls between the 1/2 walls down to below the net. Players keeps his body between the opponent and the puck along the walls while moving his feet, hands off to a supporting mate along the wall with 2-3-6 ft short passes, he does the same as they switch sides while a 3rd or even 4th man may come join in "cycling" the puck and bodies as they switch positions along the wall and keep possession.

Meant to wear an opponent down, create a mismatch or blown coverage where a player gets open in the middle of the ice and the cycling player feeds him a pass or a cycling player an take the puck off the wall and skate it to the middle.

Not good. .... In my viewings I saw Dach as a bit heavy footed, lumbering but in the 1st nothing like that. Kid showed real straight away speed. Can't say how balanced of a skater he is yet but no doubt he's put in the work and improved his speed.

Always a good thing but when it's a 6ft 4in player that is looking to be a power forward that's a real good thing.

I've been crying for 4 years at least they can't cycle the puck and maintain possession which Kubalik specifically did nothing to help. They've carried too many one trick ponies. Hopefully, change is in the works.

But needs years of work on his stride, because it is not good. A that is me being kind. He looks like a tough and hard playing/shooting possible. You can have any former USAWomen's gold skating instructor attempt to improve it, but it is a long term project to get the knees to not collapse inward, and the one continued same rhythm to his skating stride (without the luxury the ability to cross over with the legs the same missing ingredient in our Nylander.)
I gaged when I saw the words improve speed.

He scored equal his brother's final junior year, but with a lot less hockey IQ on the attack. (Wow, that typed ironic; using Kirby's NHL offensive acumen as a superior over Colton.)

and to add perspective in m y 2021 Mock I had the Blackhawks taking Boucher and Stillman in the early second and Dach after that. That didn't transpire when those two were gone in the first, lol!
(And I said when aske,d based on his brother Kirby being around, that I even take Colton at the end of the first simple because of the fact big brother would yelp apply a reason to improve his feet.
I am trying say I like the kid, the potential, but I am not gonna ignore the areas Colton must get better in many areas before he becomes part of the filling a NHL spot talk.

TODAY'S GAME IS ALL ABOUT your abilities with the stick, the game speed and great continual showers go good reads on the ensuing plays.

You gotta move more now that the past eras....

I appreciate your concern, but ditch diggers need love too.
Just kidding, I'm the first one to female dog about a players stride as you most likely know from out jousts over the years. But their has to be a desire to learn and effort to implement changes to what a player considers to be normal. If Colton Dach is open minded and working at it that's the huge first step. And even if he never proves to be a stellar skater it might give him the insight to be able to vector in on his target at whatever pace he can muster. Head the opponent at whatever pass he can. Maybe he develops enough speed to be the first man in on the forecheck. Ben Eager wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer but he was a great first man in. Rubbish got more goals than he should have and a bunch were generated by Ben Eager forechecking.

Troy Brouwer was able to get by being an atrocious skater and have a nice NHL career though he had a heck of a shot and absolutely dominated the minors.

If he has a similar temperament to his brother not sure there's a lot to look forward to there.

Right on, 66. Accepting a weakness and working on it is all one can ask in anything. Shows awareness, understanding and work ethic to improve.

Reminds me of what a wise lady told be as a kid. A C student who is willing to work will go farther than an A student who won't.

I think he is trying to make strides in improving his feet/technique...he was always good at getting going and living on the glide afterard to get offensive plays .going.

I just want him TO continue and improve.

I can'r believe I am going out on this limb here, but:

I just not sure in the current NHL (not the decade or so back when Troy Brouwer played) how many players whose skating is about par with Brouwer's CAN BE long time NHLers The game just has gotten quicker and quicker.

Thanks, BM...........

Nice to read Bamford saw in Dach during practice what I saw in the 1 period of Friday night's tilt.

"Man, I was really bummed that Colton Dach only skated one period in the showcase. He looked faster and stronger on his skates over the couple days of practice"

The other writer mention Gutmann reminded him of Tyler Johnson of old. Nice comparison. Mentioned his IQ and positioing, ability to read a play. I agree. IMO Gutmann was as good as anyone I saw but he's 23, 4 full yrs at Denver so he's older and much more polished most any other player. Was impressed with his hands at pace and in tight quarters... I'm excited about the kid but wanna see him with NHLers to get a better read.

Indeed, Korchinski showed a gear nobody else had and thought his decisions and passing was solid. Nice start. Physically kid has a chance to be a difference maker.

Almost don't wanna name one defender cuz then you gotta mention em all. I was impressed with each and every Dman. Like Gutmann I wanna see Roos vs NHLers. He showed fine skating and really strong on his skates, head up. He impressed.

Ludwinski and Savoie's motors are as advertised. They forecheck and backcheck hard and do so at pace.

Kid who jumped out a bit I had never heard of was FA 20 yr old Joseph Serpa. Kid showed good speed, solid skating, made plays at pace and seemed around the puck anticipating well. Maybe an ECHL or AHL contract. https://www.eliteprospect...layer/505196/joseph-serpa

Agitator Riley McKay is fun. 192 PIM in 50 games at Indy last yr. https://www.eliteprospect...player/283832/riley-mckay
