For the NHL, it's the Whalers.

The Leafs' logo isn't that great.

Any logo that has to spell out the entire team name isn't a particularly clever design.

So, I think it's basically this: The Leafs have offered him 2x$1.4m. He wants 3 years @ $2m+ - probably $2.5m like Romanov, Jokiharju or Boqvist.

Let's say the deal is 3x2.5 - it's not that bad because the term is shorter and the salary isn't that high - but if he were to sign that deal on November 15th, the cap hit in year 1 is $2.95m, and $2.33 in the two subsequent years. On November 1st, it's closer @ $2.76m / $2.39m, and October 15th would be almost negligible at $2.57m / $2.46m.

Because they are already strapped, the Sandin 3 year deal is insisting that Kerfoot be traded because they can't fit him in otherwise. I think the real answer there is a 1 year deal @ $1.2m or so - then you move out Holl, sign ZAR to $900k, and would have around $800k in space to keep an extra player on the roster.

Ok, so it's not a huge ass bump like Bill Ny's was, but still more than the Leafs need it to be.

I like Kerfoot and don't overly want to trade him, but I trade him and especially Holl before the season starts. Give Robertson a legit look with the big boys and have more CAP space piled up come deadline, if a big move is required.
