Either way he wont be playing for the Rangers.

My issue is how long did the Rangers know he was unhappy? Was it back in January? Trade deadline? Draft? We dont want another wasted 1st round pick. Yes I know he is a kid and should just fall in line but then again, how many years in a row do you want a prospect not wanting to play here? Just trade him and get rid of the headache.

I believe it was reported that his trade request came in January when he was sent down. But, I don't hold it against Drury that he didn't move him right away. You have to look at it from the perspective of the GM of a team poised to make a run down the stretch. One or two injuries and Nils could be needed in the line up.

True but then what about the draft? I dont know what we would be able to get for him now. We kinda dont have much choice.

That's a valid point.

#NYR rookies just half-assed it on the PP. Down 3-0 on a short handed goal. Sykora then takes a penalty to kill the man advantage.

This is where I was hoping when they traded for Copp that they would have moved Nils in that deal rather than the 1st round pick. That conditional pick could have instead been Nils and a 2nd we would have saved a 1st rounder and not had to deal with this nonsense.

My cousin went to yesterday's game, here is his summary:

1) PPL Arena was much nicer than he expected and would bring his family there again

2) Best looking Rangers players were Othmann and Trivigno. He said Othmann must have been a soccer player as a child because he made more than one "kick" passes that were very effective. Trivigno was small, but was EVERYWHERE and always engaged. He was a super pest and reminded him of Brendan Gallagher from Montreal

3) Cuylle and Jones both played and while they weren't horrible, he was disappointed that they really didn't stand out.

4) Worst looking Rangers players were Olaf and Rempe. He said that the first goal was not Lindbums fault ( Jones actually screened him so he never saw shot coming ) but Olaf never looked comfortable in the crease. His movements were not smooth, quick or effective and that he played his angles very poorly. Rempe was the biggest guy on the ice and while he demonstrated decent hands and was very aggressive, he simply couldn't keep up with the pace of the game. He was continually behind the play and wasn't even sure he could play effectively in the AHL.

Hope that you find this interesting...

Thanks Tommy. Sounds like from what I read, Robertson was solid in both games and helped his chances for the third pair spot against Jones. From Game 1, Garand played well, building on what we saw in the WJC.

Interesting. Know it was a 5-1 loss but was just reading that the Flyers only had 15 shots. That’s a REALLY bad look for the goalie. Meanwhile, the Rangers had 37 and just one goal by Trevigno.

Looking forward to seeing some of these kids a week from tomorrow. Trevigno may be right there with Cuylle and Othmann for that last spot.

The last spot will ultimately come down to best fit for use, I think its Cuylle's spot to lose.

one week from today, first pre-season game, HOLLA!

I think much of the fanbase is still wrapped up in "developing young players-rebuild" mode

people need a reminder that we were two games away from the finals and have some of the elite players in the NHL

#NYR have signed UFA d-man Matt Bartkowski to a Professional Tryout (PTO).

Bartkowski played in the AHL last season with the Wilkes-BarreScranton Penguins.

Tarasenko is the Goal Scoring RW that would fit in so well.

Lundkvist, Reaves and Brodzinski maybe gets it done. Who cares if it's a little more. I'd pay it, even with another prospect. Panarin to Tarasenko sounds magical.

The big question is how to make the salary work. Is it even possible?

Larry Brooks:
Nils Lundqvist to Dallas for top-10 protected 2023 first rounder. Confirmed. If it’s top 10 pick rolls over to 2024 without restriction. Could be another component coming to NYR.

Pretty good deal. Much better than expected. Good for Nils as Dallas needs D-men

I’m really surprised Drury was able to get this much

And. Just think, if Dallas does have a top 10 pick, all season long in 2024 the potential for this to become a monster pick goes through the roof.

Personally. I think Dallas is lil crazy

He replaces Klingberg and Dallas needs blue liners. NY now needs a back up RH d-man
