12.6 mil for someone who had 28 less goals than Matthews sheesh
- senstroll

Dubas said Matthews is getting paid 200,000 for every goal he scores next season

60 would be 12M, 70 would be 14M

The pick was made by my gf's stuffed leopard, Leopardo. It is infallible.

Daly said it will go up after 2024. I think he’s counting on a lot going well though. If we end up in a real recession people will spend even less.
- TurdFergeson

The biggest thing is going to be that once escrow is paid back, everything goes back to being increases based on a percentage of HRR, and HRR is a LOT higher than it was when they renegotiated things a couple years ago.

You're going to see a $4-5 million jump in the salary cap in the first year back at minimum.

Not comparable really.
1m for cap of 2m vs 1m for a cap of 12.6m

- Fakepartofme

This doesn't change the salary cap max amount. But okay, the amount of people who said Marner was a million overpaid shouldn't be saying "a million doesnt matter" at that level. Plenty of people said it here.

When you consider how big of a jump the cap is going to see in the next couple years I think you're going to see some truly massive contracts signed soon.
- BINGO!

Already seeing it, really. Mid tier players are already getting over or near $8M.

And Daly was very optimistic that they'll have the escrow repaid sooner than expected and that the first real jump should be 24/25 season. So maybe ...

82.5 (this year)
83.5
88.5'ish

McKinnon is 15% of cap ..which means that in 2 years Matthews, on the same deal, would be about 13.275 per year.

McDavid has to 15-16M when he comes due.

While he has a high mid tier player, I think Pastrnak's next deal will give us a clearer idea on this.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to Pastrnak this season with no Marchand for a big chunk of the year.

Pasta's a stud ...I'd hand him 10+ immediately if he'd take it.

Larkin is rumoured to be close to signing an extension as well.

You know he’s coming to the Leafs. Matthews signs first, then Marner, then McDavid as the cap grows. Leafs roster pretty much empties over the next couple of years as the final stages of the Shanaplan unfold.

I'm not so sure.

He looked pretty elated to be drafted by the Oilers:

Don't remind my of his infamous slide in last year's playoffs.

Still one of the best scorer of his draft class mind you.

He's better than all the guys that got crazy deals this past year, except maybe Robert Thomas.

But he does benefit quite a bit from playing on an insane power play line.
