I think Holl is a decent 2 million dollar guy who leaf fans expect a little too much from… so does the coach unfortunately

Feel bad for the guy… he’s not weak… just a little overused in the biggest market

- Dozzer

I agree ...he's fine in 3rd pairing role. The issue, I think, is that going into this offseason you could have Holl at $2M or Gio + Sandin at ~$2M combined.

They could keep them all if them move a Kerfoot or a Engvall.

If the Jays can get through 162 games with all right handed batters, then the Leafs defense must have all lefties

That’s the rulez!!!

- mr.sir

*takes another shot of whiskey*

And isn’t Tapia a leftie?

so what. he is an rfa with 88 games. not a lot of leverage.
if you want to play, give the team a reason to play you over someone else

- senstroll

and you need to be in camp to do so.

Yup… he wants more ice time then they’re willing to give him… so he wants more money… thus the unsigned player.

Yup Sandin has no real leverage.
Not too worried.
Leafs will sign him eventually or they wont and he sits.

I think the Rangers want a draft pick in return but I think that would be fair deal

from what I am reading his value right now is low anyways,
if he sits or plays somewhere else this season...idgaf

also, I dont think they want to trade him anyways, so the trade value doesnt mean anything

- senstroll

We agree… you know that right?

I don’t want him traded, I’m just saying that currently he wouldn’t get much which makes the reason not to trade him even bigger

Use to be a time when Dmen could play on either side of the rink.
- Fakepartofme

I shoot left, but prefer playing the right side.

Forward and defence.

his cap hit will go up the longer he sits. Just like Nylander was in his first year of his new deal.

Ya something like $7000 per day if he were to sign at 1.4.

Is that just for multi year deals?

Kane signed for 1.3M and his AAV was 2.1M

Think its the opposite, every day the cap hit will go up. Might be the leverage he is holding onto.

Not first year.
First year it was a cap hit of 10.79m or something like that.

in the remain years of his contract, yes it did

I guess it depends how long the Leafs sign him for.

I think the reason for that, Doz, is that he's been slotted as a top 4 guy.

We all know he's not a top four guy. You're blaming the fans for calling it as they see it - a guy in a role he can't handle.

There would be a fraction of the fan reaction if he was a bottom pair guy the whole time.

I don't think they pro-rate his contract to the full 82 games.
I they use the remain games to count for his cap hit which will make it higher

I just think it has to be Kerfoot to give them enough flexibility. They’re $1.5M over now with 22 signed. I don’t know what ZAR will cost but Holland wanted him so we’d have to pay something and then there’s Sandin and and there’s call up $. I get going with a smaller roster and maybe somebody with waiver flex makes the team but I have to think they want to make hockey decisions, not cap decisions.

Yes, I read the Sandin's cap hit would increase daily for the first year only.

I don't see any holdout lasting very long.

Sandin has absolutely no leverage.

I think he'll sign and be back.

Ahl isn't an option so he knows once signed he's on the team.

Europe pays poop ..except for the KHL which I can't see happening this year.
