Per Seravalli, Pierre Engvall has dealt with a nagging injury throughout the summer and may not be ready for the start of the season.
LTIR would TEMPORARILY free up $2.25M in this case so they may have a bit of extra time (depends on when 🦒 returns) to trade a Holl or Kerfoot.
This is why we have to stop thinking the Leafs won't have room for Sandin in the top 6.
Likely won't be healthy from now until playoffs when players are playing injured. - Santo_44

Nagging injury doesn’t necessarily mean LTIR. Not sure how it works at start of season but doesn’t it make it tougher if he’s on the roster and they need a skater for his spot?

I get a call, my 13 year son taking to hospital via ambulance, bike accident. No other details.

I finally find him in the post screening wait room, he eventually texts me where he is.
Hes fine. Some blood loss, a gash and scratches but otherwise ok.
Im like why didnt you call me?
His answer "phone was in the bag....(his backpack) and i thought youd be out of town".
Im like i havent been out of town for work in 4 years and you just left the house this morning...i walked you out!

Thats why they send him to the LTIR.
Struggles of a cap team, if they are out longer than a week or so you send them to the LTIR.

Buys them time with Sandin.
And buys them time to see if they have guys who can replace Kerfoot or Holl.

Someone will have to be moved for sure, but this may give them a little more time.

JMO, I don't think it's realistic to expect Leafs to trade Muzzin. That really makes Sandin the 5th LHD on the team behind Rielly, Brodie, Giordano and Muzzin. On the other side, Leafs have Liljegren and Holl. Niemela is not ready IMO. Makes sense to make a trade for a solid d-man on the right side. The Leafs can get by with two RHD and Holl should be gone. Sandin should be traded, they can't afford salary for a taxi squad guy.

Giordano is 38.
The main goal with Muzzin is to keep him healthy so less mins and some games off is expected.

He should be gone, regardless. Every d-man we got is better than he is. It shouldn't matter that we'd have 5-1 Lefty to Righty. Play your best players and Holl isn't one of them.
If a Chychrun trade with the Yotes actually somehow happens, I'd have no problem sending Sandin the other way, even though I'd rather not trade him. Send Holl with him, too.
