I think he said surgery (hernia) on Friday ...6 weeks to recover. Then I'd think there'd be some skating/training time to get up to speed. |

I doubt that Leafs line is together. Both JT and Willie did better when Keefe split them up against Tampa and they’re just too weak defensively. Willie to the 3rd or even (gasp) Mitch and JT which I know is heresy. Whatever they do, I can’t see those three together. - Canada Cup
I would have absolutely nothing against putting Marner back with Tavares and Bill Ny back with Matthews. |

@PierreVLeBrun
Dubas says he was informed by Brendan Shanahan this summer that no extension was coming at this point in time. Which again, the Leafs GM insists he’s ok with given the fact they haven’t delivered yet in the playoffs. He’s comfortable being judged after this season.
I think this is the right call. Pressure is on, if its another quick exit or worse, time to move on to someone else to see if they can close the deal. Duby had his shot.
if he delivers, give him a new contract |

Imagine having your GM career rest of your decision to trade for Matt Murray.

Would be interesting to allow players to "own" a spot on their equipment where they could place an ad. Would likely lead to interesting signings with a third party essentially being able to recruit a player with ad money. - sokosteve
Very interesting idea. |

Well there goes the leafs 1st round pick at the deadline.
Geez, dubas career is pretty much in the hands of murray
But it is the right call.

i guess, but he also got another goalie. so its not like there is only 1 goalie and if he fails its over.
i am weirdly not even worried about the goalies. they were awful last season also.. and had 115 points

The Leafs having the seemingly-random word “milk” in script on their jerseys is hilarious, bizzaro world stuff. Hey PERSON, here’s a reminder that MILK exists.

Agreed.
Except if murray fails, its a 4.6m anchor and could make having funds available to resign sam if he plays well a little more difficult.
Hoping they both play well. |

No, seriously, this is a really interesting idea.
NHLPA would be on board.
NHL might not be as happy - I'm assuming their immediate reaction would be it would skew competitive balance (what we pretend is the reason for the salary cap).
They also wouldn't like that it would water down the team ads they are selling.
There would have to be some sort of formula - maybe 50% of the ad money goes to salary cap. |

If they have a shot at doing real damage in the playoffs, then go for it. That’s what teams do at the deadline. The fact is that Dubas has refused to make deals to help in the short term for this year. He’s still structured the roster to maintain flexibility to resign Matthews and Marner.
He thinks Murray is the guy. If he’s wrong and Samsonov can’t step up, he’s (frank)ed |

Bourne does state (a couple tweets below) that he actually likes the idea over a big financial companies logo in its place.
But no matter what the leafs put there, some wont be happy.
I like the sponsorship and agree its better than a big bank or tik tok. |
