I'm obviously insanely biased because I'm a Leafs fan, but with so many fans of other teams praying on the Leafs downfall with Matthews leaving, how (frank)ing incredible would it be if the exact opposite happens?!

I'm not going to change my tune on liking Matt Murray. I don't. His last good season was when he was 24, in 2018-19 - but I will grant him this: he has had playoff success and some fantastic playoff performances. Last year, with .888 goaltending from Mrazek and Kallgren, the Leafs were a .667% team - which is a 109pt team. I am confident that Murray/Samsonov can be better than that, even if they might be at best league average. If Matt Murray can at least be a playoff performer - a clutch guy - then that's what we need.
Jack Campbell was excellent at times, and likeable. He was unable to step up and help the team when the team struggled defensively and his stats likewise suffered. Look, Andersen was a great goalie for 3 years, and then the defense started getting too porous - particularly in the high slot or around the crease. When they made changes to try and close off the rush chances, they were more effective - and so were the goalies. But when those didn't work, the goalies suffered. Andersen, I think, suffered initially from poor team play, and then a loss of confidence and injury. Campbell may have been the same thing, but he was never as good as Andersen.
My honest opinion is that Mike Smith was a much better NHL goalie than Campbell will ever be. Smith is gangly and awkward, but he was getting the job done better than Campbell in almost every statistical measure - on a team with equivalent or worse defense than Toronto. My Oiler friend is the happiest guy since they signed Campbell, but I sincerely have my doubts this is going to work out well for them. - Monkeypunk
Excellent post, as always.
Can't wait to see how it turns out for these guys.

Well then why didn’t anyone else predict it? - TurdFergeson
Well I can't speak for everyone but I personally dislike predicting the favorite is going to win. It's a boring pick and I get no pride from it when I'm right.
Of course it's a different story if money is involved. I tend to follow my brain then.
It got better - no sound on the video, so the 85 people in the meeting all felt the need to say "I don't have sound either" on the chat. - Atomic Wedgie
When what they all really meant was "can we get the (frank) out of here now"
I've been saying this for years, and all of you called me a grumpy old man:

Always been my mentality as well, which is why I've never been able to get on board with those who have such an issue with the Leafs slapping the C on JT instead of Matthews.
Throwing a kid to this market as captain would have been a terrible idea.
