I know this is simply blind optimism, but I see the chances of this young team not settling for just a seat at the kids table and really surprising the NHL in a good way, (like competing for a playoff spot) are much better than the team floundering at 80-ish points. The talent levels and attitudes of these youngsters are too good and too detached from the last dozen years of stink to not know that they can't win. The competition in this camp should be incredible, and like Hank says we are overdue for some good luck in net.

In hindsight, it made more sense than it does now, but if he were to play for a team I think the Sabres would have still been a good fit.

Now, with a probable broadcast career looming, why the (frank) would he even bother playing anymore for short and small contracts?

When Kevo made it clear he was looking more for a Loob type of player back there, the Subban thing made a bit less sense. Maybe it was lip service, I don't know. However, I am curious that if he was your standard declining player looking for a job in the NHL, if he'd be the guy they signed instead of Loob.
