Sorry, it doesn't have to be right now, but by the TDL would be nice. - Buff36
At some point, they have to stop being content with what they have and try to improve. Joker is on that poster.

Well not trying to piss on your parade, but Granato does like Fitzgerald and he will see NHL time this year. - Buff36
Is there anyone on the team (not named Bjork) that Granato doesn't like? I like Fitzgerald as well... but I am ok if he is our 9th D.

Why? These are kids - they are trying to find out what they have. I never understand these kinds of statements that imply urgency.

They clearly have no sense of urgency, and I'm not really pushing that either. Joker's had 3 seasons here, they should know what they have. They need to make a decision on him before his bridge is up, ideally next summer.

More likely a next offseason move. Joker and Mitts are a trap of sorts. If they play reasonably well, they won't move them. If they don't play well, their value is next to nothing.
Like someone mentioned earlier, the nice guys are going to have to do some mean things soon. - Lunaion
KA will smile his way thru trades and cuts.
Brand new extention, brand new gee golly attitude ☝️
I think it's harder for these guys to trade/cut guys they traded for/ drafted.
Basically moving out the garbage... someone else's decision, although KA extended both 🤔 |

In KA's defense, wasn't he pretty busy with sam, risto and eichel trades....
That was the urgency.
A 23 year old signed guy, not so much.

Really don't want to jump back in to how bad KA was his first year. He was lost on the job. Kicking the can as far as possible is the opposite of urgency.
There's a little pressure on them to improve this season. That ramps up the following season.

Yes I’m aware of who he is. Crazy he was a FA - Fattony1187
people overreact and drop guys they draft
the guy that dropped him has montgomery as well, now I have his handcuff to start for 2 weeks
all because he needed a backup TE and didn't want to cut his 2 kickers |

I think that - given the types of prospects we seem to be collecting - the jobs will be won and lost. Joker has had his ups and downs but he seems like a decent NHL defensemen. The only real urgency will be when the young guys inch closer to being ready for the NHL - it should be really interesting to see how it plays out.

I really think you are wrong in regards to kyvynv.
He's done an excellent job under the circumstances.
Right from the minute he took over this poop show.
Ralph played a huge part in management decisions.
Just as you deflect the good signings to Ventura, others have/had their hands in the cookie jar of roster building. |

Is this where you tell us he's great at managing generally, then get upset when we credit his staff? We have very similar feelings about the guy.
He wasn't prepared to be a GM year 1 with no support. No surprise it went so poorly.

Unless you really really like gmka , I think our feelings differ.
Ralph was hired by the pegulas.
His decisions were reflected in the lineup/makeup of the team. His bad decisions were pegula blunders....
KA hired his staff and deserves credit for their decisions.
See the difference |

When KA was announced as GM Ralph was still the decision man. Not until the last couple weeks of Ralph's reign did KA really take charge

We're so close on this one, but you just can't take the last step.
If KA wasn't effectively the GM in year 1, why was he in year two when he hired several people more qualified to be GM than he was?
You speak of him more as a Pres than GM, and I agree. Just a matter of time until that's official and I will have no problem with him in that role.

this argument is silly, who gives a shat who has what title and who is pulling the strings. Ultimately it comes down to Dubs. KA and his staff is building a fantastic group of young fast, skilled players and I pray that it results in more W's. This city is nuts when the BILLS are good, this city is certifiable when both the Sabres and Bills are good. Lets make that happen whoever has the title of GM, ONE BUFFALO!!

Our last hurdle is the ralph/KA overlap.
KA has been groomed for years for his current role.
Pegulas even paid for his advanced education.
Let's slow down and work this out :
Pegulas hired ralph, trusted him with some hockey moves/ player decisions.
When ka and ralph worked together, there was joint responsibility. Although some mistakes could be pinned on one or the other individual.
After watching ralph disseminate our franchise, the pegulas fired ralph and then most/all responsiblity fell on Kyvynv's feet.
I'm blaming Ralph for the early blunders as well as KA being inexperienced. Ralph probed to be a faluire.
KA has proved to be successful, especially with drafting and trading away players.
