Does Jason Robertson from Dallas count as a stud?

I like the player a lot for the record. The Sabres just need to find out if anyone out of Mittelstadt/Cozens/Krebs/Savoie can be a real top-six center before they trade for wingers.

If none of the first three guys can do it this year then there will be a real need to try to address that next year. The Sabres have some really nice winger prospects but outside of Savoie and maybe Kulich (but probably not), there's not a lot of high-end center prospect depth

Do you think it's coincidence, that donnie turned sam and tage into successful centers?

I really think it's an understated advantage for the Sabres moving forward.

I realize most hockey systems are Similar, but donnie's moving and grooving.

Maybe he would move Robertson to center 🤔

Could be. I love Granto’s approach: everyone needs to be able to play center. Robertson is a big boy at 6'3"

That would be quite the elite height duo with Thompson

Sam's a successful center? I think you're giving way too much credit here.

Plan A going into camp last year was Girgs at C. That failed.

It pains me to admit this, but sam's last season here was very good at center. Wasn't he on a 35ish+ goal pace based on a full season ?

Baller!
Gotta say I loved this blog...great effort and references!

Sabres projected 80% confidence level between 70 - 85 pts, with target of 77 pts according to Dom at The Athletics...he has been pretty accurate in the past.
I am not as bullish as some projecting mid/high 90's ... but think the higher end of Dom's range at 85 pts is pretty reasonable.

IMO, so much depends on the G's, and on Tage maintaining consistency/growing from last year. Sure, there are many other influences, but those are the 2 Keys to the Season.
There is plenty of risk and opportunity there.

BTW, Congrats to Adams...he deserves it.
There were numerous naysayers to McBeaner on here...many who ridiculed the Trust the Processs, now they are bandwagon fans...ignore them.

Go Sabres!!

Well done.

If he didn't go right back to wing last year, I'd make more of it.

Speaking of Bishop....

"Nill said the NHL requested that Bishop not work for the Stars.

“They just think it’s not proper at this time for him to be paid by Buffalo to work for us,” Nill said.

When Bishop’s contract expires next year, Nill said he would join the Stars in player development."

Wonder what the results of Adam's' review of the Sabres Medical Team was.

I appreciate and respect their algorithm and that seems plausible.

My rationale for thinking they'll be better than that is because there's no Benoit Pouliot or Vlad Sobotka on the 2nd line. Risto isn't on the first pairing with Scandella.

Yes, this team has essentially no star power but they are also solid throughout - providing they see reasonable progression from their most promising players.

It can be an 85 point team if Comrie can play 45 games at a .910 clip.

I really believe that

They'd also have to stay healthy, a reoccurring problem for them.

That feels more luck-based to me than anything else. At some point in this godforsaken 12-year span they're due for some positive PDO and relative good health

Didn't they slash their training staff along with all the other pandemic down-sizing? Not chalking that one all up to luck. They have a pretty bad reputation at this point.
