Off the top of my head, I don't remember specific treatments and timeline of narratives about him. It is all a murky morass. I do with the other 2. - PT21
Because the team hasn’t really been forthcoming about Ellis since the beginning. |

Yup. The front office and their in house media seem to forget that/take it for granted. Let’s not forget how empty Sixers and Phils games have got in the past when the fanbases finally had enough and tuned them out. Flyers are going to find that out soon enough here. - hereticpride Phillies and Sixers fan bases are more of the front runner variety than Flyers fans. If either one of those teams played as bad as the Flyers have for basically the last 10 years their arena/stadium would be barren. Yes, the Flyers arena will probably be barren this year cause even the hard core folks have had enough. Hell, the Sillies are actually competitive and they still play to a half empty stadium most nights. Just wait until the Sixas are a .500 team again. Won't take long for the front running fans to disappear under their rocks once again. Thanks and please FIRE THAT MORON CHUCK!!

But theyre not. At least they had the foresight and the balls to do what was needed to put them in the position they are today. Add to that, Morey has put on a master class of GMing competence since he was hired which illuminates the Flyers incompetence and delusion juxtaposed to Fletcher's performance.....and when i point this out you pissed your bloomers and it eats you up inside, Now you beat the drum against Fletcher and the front office....welcome to the party, but you deserve the state that this franchise is in, you sack of poop |

Every time they do a plan for treatment, it seems it fails.
1. Couts:
a. first injury in the region (last year): Try to play through it: Fail
b. Try non-surgical treatments: Fail
c. Surgery almost 3 months after being shut down, recovery 3 months, should be fully ready for training camp: Fail (likely fail, given the re-injury in the same area)
d. Now, back to trying non-surgical treatments (And I am pretty sure that will fail, given the specificity of ASF's story).
2. Hayes:
a. Surgery May 2021. Declared fit. Fail
b. Surgery again in 2021. Declared fit. Plays for a long time looking horrible. Fail
c. Surgery again in 2022 in the same area. Lets see if it withstands the season.
I am not even mentioning Ellis, and before that, NP. - PT21
This is all very relevant to current drama I’ve heard about. There is (was) a huge lack of trust between players and trainer

I know I have mentioned this before, but I don't see them as directionless as you do re: plan. I think they genuinely believed they were ready to take the next step when they got Hayes and Nisky. Now, they genuinely believe they are not.
But frank admissions of failure/mistakes are very unusual in public life. As such, it will be 2 steps forward (towards rebuild) 1 step back (towards claiming "2-3 pieces away"). - PT21
Yes, I agree when Fletcher arrived there was a sense from upper management that the young players at the time were ready to break out and they just needed a GM to be more aggressive to take this team to the next level. I agreed with that plan at the time, and had posted my support of Fletcher and his moves in that off season. I even liked the 2020 off-season because I felt the team was moving in the right direction and did not need much change. I was wrong. I agreed with the 2021 off season because I felt the team had glaring holes due to the younger players not being as good as we thought and some veteran players that needed a change. Injuries and a coach that lost the room were the primary reasons last year blew up, but last year also told us this team lacks the foot speed and high end skill to be a true contender. That is why the plan going into this season HAD to be to do what Fletcher stated he wanted to do, and that is to obtain high-end talent. This off season was a perfect chance to do that, and instead the dufas resigns Risto, doesn't trade JVR at the deadline, gets pretty much nothing for Giroux, and then trades and signs DeAngelo. Meanwhile players like DeBrincat, Tkachuk and Johnny Gaudreau (who wanted to come here) were all available but the cap-strapped Flyers did not even try to obtain them. So the play now is to obtain multiple 2023 high picks and hope to get into the top 5 to get that player. But its clear to me that is not Fletcher's plan, though based on his other signings and camp invites, that might just happen anyway. |

Two separate issues. Yandle the player was clearly done as an NHL and was a liability the final two seasons of his career on the ice. That was painful to watch on several fronts. But Yandle the human being is tremendous and universally liked and respected leaguewide. - bmeltzer

Fans only care about W’s - Shrike Exactly! Watching Yandle perform last year was painful on the eyes. I don't care about his off ice personality one iota! I tune in to watch a hockey game to be entertained and hope the team I've rooted for all my life comes out victorious. Watching that guy play last year was akin to having your eyes poked out by birds.

JVR had no value at the deadline. Wont fault Chuck for that one. Giroux trade he had his hands tied. Not much he could do.
Risto was dumb as dumb can be. Tony D was a good deal had they done other moves. They didn't so adding him to me doesn't accomplish much team wise. Though he will improve the offense and PP to some degree one would think.
Tkachuk tell me what the Flyers could have possibly done to acquire him? Alex was not the right move at this time imo, would he even want to re-sign here when his deal is up?
JG - Chuck passed. Why? Only he knows that answer. It wasn't because of the cap. The bottom line at the end of the day is they have zero plan on what they are doing or what they want to accomplish.
This is a big part of why the future is bleak as can be. Other down times you knew it would turn around as they had pieces in place. Not now.

I think regarding Giroux, Fletcher showed him waaaay too much respect. He should have told him straight out, you are either open to going to at least 3 teams or forget your chance to compete for a cup. As it turned out, Giroux was not loyal to Florida, as he ended up signing in Ottawa, his home town, so clearly it didn't matter which contender he played for down the stretch. Regarding Tkachuk, its very likely the Flyers were not going to compete what ultimately went back to Calgary from Florida, but have the cap space ready and at least give it a try. Maybe Calgary likes some of the Flyers' younger players. I would have traded the farm for Tkachuk. Fletcher was not in position to even try, that is my gripe with him! |

Do you really believe this is how it would have worked out? Giroux would have just said, ok Im staying here until the end of the season and left in FA for nothing.

My point is, nice-guyness had nothing to do with his streak being sustained, and Bill said so clearly. It just explains why he was well liked by the players.
To answer your question in the sense you are using, of course not.
But look at it another way, at least theoretically. Yandle was shot when he was signed. It may not have been obvious to fans (just 1 poor season and that too, not off the charts poor) but it must have been obvious to pro scouts.
The mgmt took him in knowing he was 1. shot and 2. they would have an excuse to keep playing him because of the streak. He may have been single-handedly responsible for us picking at 5 instead of say 7-8.
Yandle to me came along at just the right time. |

I agree. They would have lost whatever they got (Tippet) as well as spreading the word they did not let their best player forever and their captain a chance to chase his dreams. Could not be a good rep for luring future FAs. |
