I still see him on twitter, eating it up big time anytime anything negative happens |

Had to take a look and he is one of the overreactors regarding the training camp lines.

If Laffy played RW I would not be able to agree with you more. But, it should be rather obvious by now that switching sides and keeping your game at the NHL level is far more difficult than this forum seems to think it is. If it wasn't, he would've already been put there for a long stretch. I hope he can make the change too, as it would alleviate a lot of problems for us. But, facts are facts. - Tonybere
Plenty of MLB Players could be switch hitters if they played single A ball, but when you're at the highest levels you don't have that luxury because the room for error is that much smaller. Which none of us on this forum seem to get.

While you're not completely wrong, there's plenty of room for error in training camp and preseason... I'll reserve further judgement for the regular season but 3rd line minutes seems unwise for Laf |

I love him at 3rd line minutes and no PP time unless he seriously warrants it. He is due for a new contract this off season and while I love people getting paid big money, we don't have a lot to go around so if we can artificially keep his ceiling down this season it may help us negotiate a more reasonable contract so I won't have to listen to people cry about the extra 750K reaves got.

To potentially suppress his development with the goal of driving down the value of his next contract seems crazy to me. Also, Reaves' contract comes off the books after this season so there's no issue there. No one is advocating giving him minutes he doesn't earn but you seem to be totally fine with Sammy Blais getting those minutes?! It's just a wildly inconsistent take |

I can pretty much guarantee that Gallant isnt thinking about Lafreniere's contract and just wants to win, his job is dependent on the team winning

Wildly inconsistent take? I said unless he seriously warrants it. I know playoffs are recent memory, but LAF wasn't exactly lighting up the regular season last year. Hopefully having consistent linemates who he has chemistry with will help him develop, and I think it would lead to better development than being yo-yoed between the top and 3rd line while also going from LW to RW.
When Blais has been healthy he's been an effective player, who creates space for his linemates, finishes checks, and he's won a cup. I think GG probably views him a lot like a Jesper Fast, who seemed to have no problem playing and fitting in with better players.
As much as it's a team, it's also a business. Gotta see all sides of it. |

What's good for business is winning and maybe developing a future star of the team? I'm not saying that the world is crumbling, just that i hope Laf gets more minutes this season. Again, you can't say Blais has done more to show he deserves to be on the top line than anyone else on the team. |

Blais is an established NHL player, who has good hands, can skate, take the body, and work the corners. Having him on the 1st line, is not like having Hunt on the first line..which is what you seem to think. Again...top 9 , 5v5 minutes are pretty much the same. How is this suppressing Laf development? He's playing with Chytil and Kakko

I was addressing his sentiment that maybe the team would want to keep Laf's minutes down to game his next contract |

Honestly I love that the kid line is staying together. If they play like they did in the playoffs they are going to have some great matchups they are going to be able to exploit as a “3rd line” Teams can’t gameplan to shut down 3 scoring lines like that |

Well...that's just a retarded take......and...again.....playing 1st line vs 3rd line 5v5 minutes are pretty much the same. As far as PP goes...who you taking off to put Laf on PP1?

I think there is a strong case for him to take Strome's spot but it would seem that Trocheck will get it due to being a center and Gallant liking redundancy on the PP. |

The only player he could replace would be Trochek. I guess we'll see what works out better as the season goes on. Putting anyone on the 2nd PP unit is basically not giving them any PP time at all. Again, I don't think this is anything to be overly concerned about. I just would like to see Laf continue his momentum from the playoffs and have that translate into more playing time. |

It's not about who deserves it, either. It's about what combinations bring the highest winning percentage. That's all. If Blais isn't getting it done, he's out. We've seen it a million times by now.
I've lost the ability to get bent out of shape about the lines. I just want to see these guys all do the best with the opportunities they get. Can't wait to watch another season heading in the right direction!! LGR!!!! |

This is a good way to look at it. Just build off of last year and get into the post season. That's all we should care about. |

Trocheck is one of the best faceoff guys in the league. Just think how much better this powerplay can be when they are winning the faceoff and keeping the puck in the zone and not wasting 30 seconds of the powerplay having to retrieve the puck and set up again. That first faceoff is huge |
