He’s done. This charade will continue for the length of his contract. If it hasn’t gotten better by now then it’s not going to get any better plain and simple.

Should be it ain’t.

Eh? It essentially is. You are free to sign other players whose combined salary cap hit is up to injured player's salary cap hit.

I am sure everyone knows this. So, what am I missing?

So Brown had off-season back surgery and is week-to-week. I didn’t see any mention of when exactly. I guess this is the reason for the Anisimov PTO.
- NC Flyers Fan

Wait...what? Brown had back surgery as well? Glad they hired new staff AFTER they allowed the old guard to hand out the off season workout programs to players for the summer and oversee the entire off-season lol. Guess it takes 6+ surgeries with more likely pending before you figure out something might be wrong. Right in line with waiting half a year to start a coaching search, or clearing cap space

If the Eagles were run this way half the city would be on fire.

It's very obvious Fletch knew this all along. He spent money like it was always the case, that he always had that LTIR money available. If there was any chance Ellis could come back and back them into that bad of a cap situation he wouldn't have signed DeAngelo or Deslauriers.

Ellis was never playing and his career is over.

- MBFlyerfan

Correct, and I would argue there was a very high probability things like this could occur, which is why the asking price for a 1st pairing RHD signed long term for a reasonable cap hit was so low.

CF may have had an uninspiring run as the Wild GM but I don't recall him doing blatantly stupid trades like this one would have been.

Not serious enough for surgery…but keeps him out for what will be 2 years…only in Philly.
- landros 2

There is possibly literal smoke coming out my ears when I think of the current and near future of the Flyers.

Edit: Torts is my saving grace.

And where is our 2022 first round pick Cutter?
Did I miss him already being hurt and also no mention in rookie camp

I’m with you. How in the world is this team not embracing tanking the next few years. It’s literally falling in their lap and this jack off of a GM hires Torts to try and eek out wins

I just read that McCrossin and Raffa dropped their lawsuit. They are both still employed by the Flyers/Comcast, but it sounds like McCrossin’s is now a “senior advisor “, which I guess means he still collects a salary and benefits and gets to hang out with Clarkie. The Flyers also announced they hired a new head athletic trainer, and physical therapist/rehab coordinator who I guess take over McCrossin and Raffa’s jobs? I hope the both got BIG payouts.
- Dkos

I hate Clarkie with a passion.

Idk if you’re being serious. I never heard that. Not saying it’s not true if you’re being serious.

I do know he loved playing in Nashville. And was clearly shaken by the trade. No surgery make zero sense.

Farabee is in group D. Surprised to see him participating. that's at lease some good news.
- Letterkenney

I dunno' about anybody else, but I am legitimately concerned for his health with the way this organization has handled major injuries the last couple seasons. Nothing like rushing a kid back coming off major neck surgery. All anyone hears about is how hard Torts is going to push these guys through camp, and this organization thinks putting Farabee right in the the thick of it is a good idea? Good luck kid

He's in college. Once again, NCAA rules prohibit a player from attending a pro camp that overlaps with any semester in which an athlete is registered for classes.

This seems to come up over and over. I did an FAQ article on the FLyers site some years ago about the complex set of rules governing camp attendance.

Some people just don't pay attention Bill.

I am guilty of this as well.

Look up the injury. Psoas muscle, its a large muscle from the back to the pelvis. Would probably be a large and possibly dangerous surgery

We were headed for a very obvious tank. And not just a one year tank but probably a good 3 years of sucking. Then Chuck goes out and hires the only coach who can probably single handily stop the tank from continuing..
Chuck can literally do nothing right. Not a damn thing. Every move he makes is the wrong move, which is exactly how we got here to this point.
Just imagine the jubilation of this fan base the day that they announce that Chuck has been let go
