He said LIQUOR STORES ARE LOW ON BOOZE. It’s going to seem like it’s raining frogs for a lot if Maritimers if they can’t get their booze.

My favourite part about Nova Scotia hurricanes is when it’s done and small groups of drunk dads with no shirts roam neighbourhoods with chain saws and hamburgers asking if you want some bbq or need any poop cut down.

Stay safe. I don't like the sound of this one. Of course, let's face it, it never sounds like a good time.

We were out there in 2014 for Hurricane Arthur, which was fortunately downgraded to a tropical depression - but obviously the prep work for it was no different.

Looks like a bad one. Stay safe man. Don’t be like the idiots I’ve seen in Galveston before a hurricane out to catch some great waves.

Auston Matthews looks comically good at camp. Huge difference from last fall when he was recovering from wrist surgery. (Not breaking news, I know, but still something to see.)

I know it’s just beginning of training camp but bunting was saying that Auston had productive off season. I’m not sure what that entails but if he stays healthy I think he can get to 70 goals this year.

Can we now admit that Auston Matthews is on the same lofty mountain that Connor McJesus resides?

I think we can.

Clearly, Laine is in another dimension. And yes, we should have at least considered drafting him... alas....

Connor McDavid is observably talented - he thinks fast, he moves fast, and he processes and performs at a speed and level that no one else can do - that will always set him apart.

Young guys like Zegras are fantastic - but I think a lot of what sets them apart right now is that they have a skill set that takes advantage of passive defense in certain situations. An adaptation to their style of play (more aggressive in their danger areas - force him to the backhand, and so on) will challenge some of the greatest skills that the young guys have - and they'll need to adapt themselves and add to their skillset if they are to continue to be elevated above the excellent tier of players.

When I see a guy like Matthews, I've always said he reminds me of Mario Lemieux. Now in my opinion Lemieux is the best player I've ever seen. He had a way of looking like he wasn't even trying while being the best player on the ice. He physically shimmied that huge frame into excellent moves that were great to watch, but nothing compared to his hands. It was both exceedingly fast and stunningly slow at the same time. Mario was a living dichotomy to me - both not trying and trying, being fast and slow, being completely apathetic and fiercely competitive . . .

I get that same vibe from Matthews. He's large, he has insane hands. He is a creative skater and and moves excellently with the puck. He is not Mario Lemieux by any stretch - but he is likely already better defensively than Mario ever was.

I'd put them in the same stratosphere, yes. On sheer offensive optics, McDavid takes the win. On sheer defensive optics, Matthews does.

Matthews was real Matthews 2-3 weeks into the season.

50 in 50 can happen again.

I think we haven't been quite normalized how easy this guy scores goals, especially against poop teams like Arizona, Detroit, ect.

I love this cold weather. Nice bowl of tomato bisque, and diet Pepsi with lemon and lime. Fish and chips. Tonight a beach bonfire with weiners and marshmallows and a swim in Lake Ontario to kick off cold swimming season.
