Agreed with the Panthers taking a step back.

Yeah Florida was a paper tiger and their defense hasn't gotten better.

Samsonov admits there were other teams that offered him more than 1-year deal. Dubas mentioned that the Russian goalie wanted to bet on himself when he signed him this off-season.

It's a weird little advantage the Leafs have now fallen into - bet on yourself under the glare of Toronto hockey media, and then go get yourself a bigger next contract.

Yeah, it's hilariously hypocritical of me to have typed that, when I'm going to ask everyone to make several different rankings in the prediction thread.

All really comes down to playoff performance for cup contending teams

Add to the fact that it’s Murray’s net if I understand it correctly. He was never signed to be the man.
Seems like an odd statement to make when you’re the back up.

They weren't even that good. Hardcore offense but could only play that one way. If they let their foot off the gas for even a second they couldn't do anything. Now they're the same club, perhaps a bit meaner, but with even worse defensemen.

Dubas has stated already that there is no starter.

Play for playing time.

Look at their D...Its Ekblad, Forsling and then a bunch of guys who are 5-7 D men.

And in the short term you lose every day when you trade 2 stars for 1 star.

Weegar was a pillar for that team.

I read Duclair is out long term? They lost Marchment.

I am willing to bet they are a wild card team.

And there in lies another problem… no defined starter… ask teams how they do when they roll 2 QBs.

Yeah, I’d be nice if one of them just snatched it up quick here in Camp.

Do you mean what other team’s fans are offering.

Assuming he’s good on the right side, I’d do Engvall or Kerfoot, Robertson or someone lower on the prospect list, Sandin and a 2nd from 2024 for Chychrun. That’s kind of a guess of the ballpark of what it might cost.

Nothing from the core and if I could avoid Robertson and a first I would.

In 1983, Coach Bob O'Billovich pulled Condredge Holloway when the Argos went down 17-7 and put in Joe Barnes.

The offence got going, and we won the Grey Cup.

It's not saying there won't be a starter and a backup defined, but the idea is that there is open and healthy competition to establish yourself in one of those roles. The presumption I have is that Murray probably has the acumen to be considered the starter - but Samsonov has the credentials to become the guy - especially if Murray gets injured.
