Reading down through the comments I was about to respond with something similar hahah....Hex jumped the gun on extending the aging declining vet Carter prematurely....not that far fetched he could do it again....

Just a theory but it almost seems as if Carter only agreed to come to Pittsburgh if he was protected in the expansion draft then given an extension with a NMC. If that indeed was the case, then Hextall handled it very poorly by agreeing to such terms.

Maybe it has to do with consistency at putting the puck in the net in the playoffs? Despite age and who is in net at the other end.

Same With Z. I guess he really worked on his skating. He's faster and stronger on the puck. That was my complaint with him.... Big guy who is easily knocked off the puck.
