. If you open an Athletic article or any article for that matter on your mobile device at the top right next to the X button that closes the article there is an AA button. Click on that button then click on Show Reader and you get the whole article whether you have a subscription or not

Ahh on the phone, got it. I'm over here opening up the Athletic in incognito mode in Chrome trying to figure out what the hell you were talking about

Not the body of the article but a note for those who doubted it;
Defenseman Bode Wilde, who was exiled to Sweden last year after refusing to get vaccinated for COVID-19, will not attend training camp, per the team. The Islanders are figuring out an assignment for Wilde this season.

Absolute joke especially at this point.

Speaking of the Atlantic, now that you can read for free. Lebrun has a real good article on Trotz and why he’s not coaching this year. One sentence/statement stuck out to me “ A family that includes a son with special needs. They still have to get their son settled in Nashville. And Trotz’s mother-in-law is moving from her home into a facility, so there’s more family stuff to take care of, which is why Trotz would never have been ready to commit to an NHL team for the beginning of the season.

For The Islanders as well? Good thing Lou fired him before he quit.

Stupid debate at this point. Trotz was literally quoted as saying he was disappointed he wouldn’t be coaching the team this coming season. Was looking forward to proving all of the doubters wrong. Literally said that.

The guy got fired because Lameriello didn’t see eye to eye with him on some things. Jesus it’s incredible how some look for the hardest answer possible. There is a zero % chance the owners chucked him an extra 4 million as a parting gift. I can’t wrap my head around this still being a debate or how it ever was it’s incredibly stupid

I alluded to all of this a while back b/c Staple had mentioned a lot of it.. it went over like a Fart in a wet suit. I also mentioned he was moving back to Nashville where they were most comfortable with Son's needs.... once he didn't want to commit to extending and staying on Island long term.. Lou moved on. That is exactly what he should have done b/c they would have lost Lambert if they didn't and then lost Trotz next summer and we would have ended up with someone like Capuano.

That is the only thing that is a fact. The rest is just speculation. Either way I've already moved on and I'm ready to see what Lambert can do. Looking forward to him showing some emotion behind the bench. I love coaches who lose their shat

I liked trotz. The guy is an incredible coach. With that said I think his message got stale and that I’m sure coupled with some other reasons is why he was let go. I’m sure lameriello knew he wasn’t signing him again and didn’t want to lose Lambert to Detroit on top of it. The bottom line is if Lameriello thought this team had a shot at the cup with trotz as coach he would be here another season lame duck coach or not. He didn’t and that’s why he fired him. We already knew he wanted to come back he said it.

As far as the rest being speculation yeah sure but that’s exactly what happened to think otherwise is (frank)ing stupid

I’m looking forward to seeing lambert and what he can do with the team.

"Suing them for"

Mandating that people get a vaccine that was not effective and has now been proven to cause many issues in healthy athletes, children, and thousands of others who had zero health issues will be very Suable. Especially, when choosing not to comply resulted in your not being able to pursue your career. The NHL did that and now Lou choosing to keep that stance even though all mandates have been lifted and the CDC has come out and said it's safe.. is even more egregious. It's total B.S.

I think everything you said was a factor. Never disputed that. I believe he wasn’t signing another contract with us. With that said trotz said he wanted to come back this season. Came from his mouth. Direct quote. If Lou thought he was the guy that would bring us the cup he would still be here. They didn’t fire him so he can be closer to his family and so Ledecky and malkin could pay him an extra four million. They are the owners, why fire him to give him four million dollars when they could’ve just let him go on his own accord and handed him four million dollars and it would’ve been a helluva lot better PR?

Edit; I’m done with this also don’t even answer

100%. Personal matters are more important than hockey at this point in Barry’s life. That and last season drained him and he wasn’t ready to battle again or commit to The team long term.
Lou is loyal to a fault and takes care of his troops. Barry was an incredibly good soldier. The transition this team took in 4 years is priceless. 4 million to L and M is a drop in the bucket Barry made them buy leading this team to contenders in no time.

This is what I have been told by a pretty good source but He ain’t no Cpt.
