lol here's Peart's list of top drummers all time. Baker don't make the top 5 bud. Just saying...
Gene Krupa
Buddy Rich
Keith Moon
Hal Blaine
Mitch Mitchell
Ginger Baker
John Bonham
Terry Bozzio
Michael Giles
Bill Bruford
Stewart Copeland
Carl Palmer
Phil Collins
Freddie Gruber
Manu Katche
Peter Erskine - LordHumungous
Bonzo is the best, every poll I’ve seen lists him at the top and lots of other drummers say so.
Nah. He is one of the all time greats but there are guys that have surpassed him. Some of the stuff guys are doing today would make Peart look like an amateur ( exaggeration I know).
I don’t believe this is Peart’s list. Yours maybe.
The fact that Keith Moon is listed third says it all. Keith hit hard. That’s it. Couldn’t write, compose, or innovate.
Saying that, I’m not a Who fan at all. My least favourite 70s mega-bands. I think they are so overrated. So my Moonie opinion my be skewed a bit. - bloatedmosquito

All you really need to know is that Peart was voted best drummer (by his peers) something like 9-12 years in a row. No drummer in history has that honour. Hey man I like Daney Carey too but did he hit Peart's level? Not to my knowledge. Pretty sure the actual musicians over the decades know what they are talking about lol. What some drummers are accomplishing on a technical level 'today' is another story altogether. And they are some killer ones. When they have accomplished what Peart has look me up...we'll talk. lol I've said this to many young folks coming up in music 'you may know your biases and what you like...but you might not know what's actually good'.

Just because they aren’t as widely recognized yet doesn’t mean they aren’t better. Peart is widely known as he had been around so long and influenced so many. There are guys that are technically doing things that in 20 -30 years from now will be known as the Peart of their generation. Not a fan of all the music they do. From Jazz to Metal there are some guys that are setting the bar up to the next level. Danny Carey, Kai Hahto, Mike Portnoy, Evgeny Novikov, Jordi Jordenson ( before he died) and I could go on.
2nd, Peart even said so, rush looked up to zeppelin like a lot of them. - Bettmanhatesus
The legacy of Rush's late drum icon, Neil Peart, continues to thrive as his 2112 drum set recently sold for $500K USD in an auction — a chrome Slingerland that Peart played throughout the '70s.Dec 15, 2020
