Bruce Boudreau on Nils Höglander: He’s the best player on the ice right now. He looks so much faster than he did last year. He’s definitely ready, and I think last year was a setback for him, and he doesn’t want it to happen again. #Canucks @Sportsnet650

lol reminds of Lou and Tim Thomas in the 2011 pressers.

lol you just over rate Cream a bit and that's fine it happens. But in your defence the sample size is a bit small to compare Rush' full catalog of diversity. I know the history of Peart's adoration for Baker but as a few others here nailed it Peart surpassed him and not by a small margin. Hell even in the documentary Lifeson and Peart commented they were getting so technical and progressive with some of the written tracks they couldn't actually play them live. Peart cites many other Jazz drummers as high influences too if not bigger than Baker. Would have been an easier comparison if Baker had a 30 year career with Cream but it wasn't to be. The 4 Cream albums were very good...but if you compare them to the best 4 Rush albums it's not close dude. lol

Which is the Achilles heel for most studio bands. Hard to take all that modulating equipment on the road to cover for a lack of live performance talent.

If Hogs keeps it up and forces Bouds' hand, where does he crack the lineup?

Garland – Miller – Boeser

Hoglander – Horvat – Podkolzin

Kuzmenko – Pettersson – Mikheyev

Pearson – Richardinson – Lazar

- NewYorkNuck

I read that hogs - pouty - pods was one of the better line combos last season behind Pearson - Miller - Boeser.

https://www.vancouverisaw...nucks-last-season-5674026

I could see BB going back to what was successful last season if the new line combos don’t work out this coming season.

So that would leave...

Pearson – Miller – Boeser
Hoglander – Pettersson – Podkolzin
Kuzmenko – Horvat – Mikheyev
Garland? – Richardinson – Lazar

Lol... if Hog earns a job in the top 9, do they trade Garland?

What Neil could do on a 50 piece drum kit, Baker could do on a 5 piece.

It’s all about timing. If you don’t got time, you don’t got shit.

This is why the roster still needs a lot of work. Got some good pieces but still have issues with tweeners.

Danny Carey was influenced by both and has surpassed both. Kai Hahto as well.

Buddy Rich
Keith Moon
Hal Blaine
Mitch Mitchell
Ginger Baker
John Bonham
Terry Bozzio
Michael Giles
Bill Bruford
Stewart Copeland
Carl Palmer
Phil Collins
Freddie Gruber
Manu Katche

Boudreau is an NHL coach, he doesn’t care two poops about developing young players, he needs to make the playoffs or lose this job. He will play the best NHL talent he has where he thinks it gives him the best opportunity to win, which likely means going with combinations that worked for him in the past.

Probably a top 5 PP, if the PK is in the top half that could be enough to squeeze into the playoffs. Interesting to see how all the skilled guys do in a tight, defensive game.

I don’t believe this is Peart’s list. Yours maybe.

The fact that Keith Moon is listed third says it all. Keith hit hard. That’s it. Couldn’t write, compose, or innovate.

Saying that, I’m not a Who fan at all. My least favourite 70s mega-bands. I think they are so overrated. So my Moonie opinion my be skewed a bit.

Bruce commented yesterday that if the Canucks don’t make the playoffs the season would be considered a disaster. Yikes.

Disaster is a strong word. That means a playoff spot is expected by this regime. I still consider this team rebuilding after the Benning era.

Expectation; "make the playoffs" (anything can happen, new season)

Reality; Out in 4-5 games (first round playoff revenue, small steps)

As Allvin said a month ago on the SN interview this is one of the best top 9's in the league. Playoffs are expected.

I think an interesting sub plot this year will be comparing Ottawa to Vancouver. Both in tough in their division, but both with high expectations.

Yup. It’s still so ugly. Especially when you compare it to legit contenders.

It was Peart’s list but it’s just a bunch of older guys that influenced him. There are better drummers that have surpassed most of those guys these days.

Apparently it's not an issue, Poolman is back. We'll see how that holds up over the course of the season. We can always bring in Jett Woo.

This summer it seems they changed gears with their signings.
