Tippet definitely makes the team imo. One of the only guys that skates hard every shift. Not to mention pretty much the only forward I routinely saw creating rushes. I think he can be a good player if the Flyers are capable of drafting anyone worth a damn to put with him. |

well, if what they did at the end of last year means nothing, the question still remains....what have any of them done to nail down a starting job?
from what i saw cates is a more rounded player than frost. but we can disagree, that's fine. - Peter Richards
Frost became much more well-rounded last season, which the org cared more about than his point totals. Now they want to see him carry everything over -- including his late season mini-surge offensively -- and pick up from there, includling offensively.
Yesterday was only a scrimmage -- a lopsided one at with a near NHL roster against Carter Hart, Noah Cates and a lot of tryout types -- so it really wasn't a great test. He did fine and had a couple of assists. His line dominated but I wouldn't see he especially stood out relative to how the scrimmage as a whole went for his side.
One of Mike Yeo's final messages last season to Frost (and Tippett) was that they were playing well at that point but the next step would be to be the standout difference maker especially in games where things aren't going well for the team. Don't be satisfied just to blend in and play how everyone is playing. If things are going well, you be that much better. If things are going badly, help turn it around.
That's a great challenge for Frost and Tippett and something that Tortorella is going to push both guys about even harder. They have to rise to that challenge. |

Let me make this very clear, I’m not rooting against Noah Cates or anyone else. I want the very best for this team. With this said, I’ve had zero faith in any young players making the team because of the offseason transactions. Circumstances have changed but Cates isn’t the only player in the running. A healthy Wade Allison has a good chance. Maybe Tyson Foerster is ready. I’m not focused on one guy. In fact I prefer a healthy Wade Allison to make this team but I’m happy with the best player to take a spot. |

I think every time you line up in an NHL game you can take something from it. True it’s a new year, but with some of the young guys getting some time up with the big club is extremely valuable. None of those guys has preformed well enough to be given anything. But in all fairness they were such a train wreck last year NO one should feel they are a guarantee to be part of the future here. - landros 2
I agree. I hate the Provorov criticism. We’ve given him zero support. Maybe Ristolainen isn’t very good but I think we should be hoping for improvement from him, not writing him off |

Any chance we see some accountability applied to the front office, and the lazy/incompetent men employed there?
Or is this just for the players like Zamula, or Allison again.
Somehow seems like Lombardi, and Fletcher are guaranteed a job no matter how they perform? |

Comcast goes to Scott. Scott goes to Clarke. Clarke covers for everyone. |

There’s no success like failure and failure is no success at all.

Does Vegas have an over/under number on this so I can win some money when he goes out? |

I find it hard to believe that with the beating his back takes (and has taken for the past 12 years of heavy minutes), a few weeks "rest" is all he needs. You should consider this a chronic condition that will have him in and out of the line-up all the while making $7.75MM for the next 8 years |

remember everyone was up in arms about art-ross akesson and that one guy we didn't sign and went back into the draft and got picked up by another team who everyone thought was the next coming (was like 8-10ish years ago?) - 2Real
I believe it was Tomas Hyka, who was ultimately drafted by LA, ironically with a pick that was originally the Flyers' property. He wound up being nothing, but I believe what had people upset was, if he was good enough to take a "flyer" on why not just draft him in the 7th instead of the goon they choose. I believe Holmgren wanted to sign him but couldn't because of age (he had to go back into the draft). As usual Holmgren being Holmgren went for the goon in the 7th and then screwed up the math on the skill guy |

Hope all kids, especially the skilled ones take a step forward in the NHL, AHL and prospects, I hope they get a top 3 pick. Next season you would have Cutter, top 3 pick, young guys who stepped forward (foerster, Tippett, Frost etc). Then hope Coots is healthy with TK, farabee coming into their prime. JVR will be gone, Ellis IR, add one skilled player, skake it all up and see what you have |

I guess Ottawa/Toronto and Philly/Boston are somehow both on NHLnetwork. Anyone know the difference? How are they both on?
Edit
I think the nhl realized its mistake and only put it to the Philly game? |

You know what? In the Detroit area, they tend to lean towards leafs stuff. Like CBC is a local channel that belongs to Canada. |

I wouldn’t doubt it, more like a regional thing. Buffalo probably gets the Canadian game too |

For a team that’s supposed to be tougher, I feel like we’re getting pushed around. Outside of the Wade Allison fight.
