True but it was a BPA pick. I’ve said many times I don’t subscribe to BPA but I also don’t believe in reaching in the 1st round.

So to be clear, you don’t believe in taking the best player available and you also don’t believe in not taking the best player available.

Seriously does anyone in here not understand the cost of trading for a top 4 RHD is very expensive if even available?

That said who in here is willing to pay the ask & for who & for what?

To be clear I don’t pick a reach in the 1st round. Was that not clear?

As for BPA I don’t subscribe to BPA until I hear MY TEAMS BPA list not the myriad of BPA lists out there. Therefore if say a RHD is in the same range or group of F’s then it’s pick RHD. BPA isn’t always cut n dried as only a single player is there to be picked.

obviously the best player available is the one that the team who is up at the podium making the announcement thinks is the best player available.

So not BPA and not not BPA unless that player isn’t “a reach” whatever that means. Got it.

So NYR trade Lundkvist a 1st rd RHD who has proven nothing to date. Dallas pays a 1st & conditional 4th if I remember correctly.

Good deal or bad deal?

I’ll say Dallas can only hope it’s a good deal. Imo they were desperate & met NYR’s ask cuz Klingberg walked. Bad deal but willing to be proven wrong. He was 4th RHD depth in NYR.

Don would tell you it’s the worst deal in the history of hockey. The hockey pundits I’ve heard/read have said it’s a fair deal.

Seems like a lot to me given that Dallas isn’t exactly one guy away from challenging for the cup.

Dallas paid quite a bit for sure. However, it's only fair to point out that the Rags depth at RHD is amazing. It's quite possible any of them would be our best RHD.

True they had the depth but by no means has Lundkvist proven he’s top 4. He had the opportunity to be on the Rags but Schneider passed him. Will he do better in Dallas? He should given the opportunity but in the AHL he wasn’t turning heads.

What if Van paid the same price?

I’d be pissed & right along side with Don.

No idea who this Kalynuk kid is, but he looks good. AHL contract, or camp invitee?

Maybe. I'm not watching either game. Just checking score. See that both squads having some trouble scoring and being outshot at home the one team.

Agreed
By the time they get to the last game of pre-season it's more the regulars and the intensity ramps up.

I attribute much of that to not wanting to be there. Is it childish or unprofessional ? I think so but he's also just 22 years old and gets a fresh start where he's actually needed instead of being a surplus.

It’s a PP/PK fest. Rathbone has been pretty good, Dries, Kalynuk. The skill guys are having trouble, too choppy still.

Think the AHL Canucks will actually be pretty good this year.
