No one yet has volunteered that Soderstrom could become pretty good. No one has said that he is a great goaltender prospect. A good prospect; that is a fair evaluation probably. As a young goaltender it is not surprising to read where he has some things to work on.
I would bet that Comesso is very comparable.
Together we can tuck away the idea that they may be a tandem n Chicago in a few years. Of course this is premature Yet we do want to see them keep developing this season
One point though that stands out at least about Soderstrom, is how he won games for Rockford where his team was clearly the inferior team.
I don't see this happening in Chicago this season, at least over a stretch of games. However perhaps he gets a spot start at the NHL level due to an NHL injury. Maybe he steals a game or two.
I wonder what 6628 thinks about Soderstrom in particular. By virtue o his AHL experience he may be deemed closer or more ready for NHL than Comesso.
We may may have seen a bit more of Comeso in the Olympics than Soderstrom cup of coffee. Who do you have a hunch turns out the better NHL goaltender? - jhawk59
To keep things in perspective, Subban was a top goaltender prospect.

You only have 2 right handed shots on the roster, S. Jones and Murphy, with Mitchell out. All the rest are lefties, C. Jones, Johnson, Stillman, (before McCabe comes back in 4-6 weeks). No need to play Regula on his off side. Another lefty with pro experience is Phillips. He looked very good last night also. - LAHawk
So you are going to play your best LD in the AHL? Doesn't make sense.

He has played a total I have 11 games pro. Hopefully Davidson does not rush him he would benefit with at least a half season in the AHL.
Dach was the “best” Center at the beginning of last year also. That didn’t work out too well did it |

I remember King being asked about Soda last year and he said oh yea he'll be up here soon, said it with exuberance. - BetweenTheDots
Noted. No one was over the moon about Crawford early in his career either. Most “experts” are hesitant to get too complimentary of Soda. That’s ok. |

Could Bowman’s biggest mistake (and he had a lot of big mistakes) be Colliton/King. |

No, keeping Mark Kelley and Ryan Stewart way past their shelf life. Then hiring Colliton to replace Q. King wasn’t a main player, took over as coach when Colliton replaced Q. |

Well Dach missed a season because of his wrist and played in the NHL at a younger age already. You can make the argument the thing holding Dach back is the wrist itself.
Vlasic played 2 years of college and is the same age as Dach. So really different paths.
The biggest difference is Vlasic is a kid playing in a man's body, as big as Dach is he is still a kid playing in a kids body |

I’m watching the Montreal/Winnipeg game. Cole Caufield looks like a star, Kirby Dach….does not. |

Speaking about big size players, has Crevier been inserted into preseason games? |

How many goals will Caufield (Canadiens) score this season?
Where does Drouin and Dach fit in?
Poehling too I suppose.
Caufield with better center scores how many this year? Previously was trying to imagine two youngsters on same line (Caufield and Shane Wright). Remember Seattle has an NHL team. They plucked S Wright. |

Not getting a 1st and a high level prospect in the Panarin trade was very very bad. |

Do you think the Hawks make any moves before the season (other than normal roster cuts)?
Take on a bad contract for assets?

He made plenty of bad ones. Major bad ones. Panarin. Seth Jones. Etc….
But if it turns out that Luke can bring structure in all three zones and form a credible team defense with awful goaltending, poor veteran dmen and an overall weak group of forwards that would indicate that Colliton was even more horrible than we thought because he had a better roster. |

Drouin is on IR. Capfriendly depth chart has Dach as 4RW. (Don't know where he's been playing in the pre-season games.) Poehling's been traded to Pittsburgh.

Take the Reichel approach with him. majority of the season in Rockford, first man up if needed to that experience.
What I think gets over looked a lot is that being in Rockford isnt a punishment. Having the guys that are expected to be a major part of this teams future playing together and meshing in Rockford to me is much more valuable than throwing them on the sinking ship in a no win situation all in the name of learning with the big boys. - Zach Jarom
If you can play in the NHL what's the difference? You don't want all your prospects coming up at the same time. It'll be better to have some with some experience. Keeping guys in the minors when they are able to play in the NHL is dumb |

I agree with you. Vlasic should and probably will be in the NHLthis season. He doesn't look overwhelmed at all. |
