What I find incredible about that record is that Orr with a 10 year career is 2nd on the list. Not to take anything away from Robinson who was the best d-man on an incredible run in the 70's, but Orr was on a different level. Dallas Smith had about as much talent as Sergio Momesso.

Orr also changed alot on the backcheck after carrying the puck in the offensive zone....

We used to have a guy in my hockey team that would always change on the backcheck.

When the other teams cored he'd just say "Whew! Dodged a minus there!"

- Scabeh

It always baffles me when the James Tannerers of the world say that +/- is a meaningless statistic.

Like yeah, I get that it has limitations and flaws, but at the end of the day, we've all played with the centre on our beer league team who never comes below the top of our faceoff circles, scores two goals (absolutely no assists), is a -2 at the end of the game, and then complains that his wingers (I'm one of them) were terrible.

Apparently Corsi (shots on goal - shots on goals against) is a better way of tracking scoring than +/- (goals - goals against). Huh?

He also changed a lot after carrying the puck in the offensive zone...

...because the faceoff was at centre.

Yup, I DOUBT Holl will be moved but I won’t say I KNOW

I’m just gonna sit back this time around and see how Dubas handles this because pretending to know at this point is nothing short of silly

Yup. And at the risk of repeating myself: Gio is not a defender who can raise Holl's game at this point.

Frankly, I don't even think Norris Gio would be able to do it. One could make a very good argument that Norris Gio was only Norris Gio because of Brodie's uncanny pairmanship(!).

- mjones242

Gio was pretty great last season.

How good will he be this season? Who knows but no reason to think he can't do the same this season.

Norris Gio has been gone for 3 years now.

Thats it, who really knows.

Holl, Kerfoot, Engvall. Those are the 3 guys they could move.

I think they would rather keep Kerfoot out of all of them if they had the choice.

I think they probably are in a holding pattern on a lot of roster decisions until they know more about Engvall and Tavares. If those guys need to miss enough time to make LTIR a reality then it opens up a bunch of options in terms of keeping guys around.

It would cost the 2nd best Arizona boy on the Leafs, a 1st and convincing Muzzin and his back that the Arizona heat and hanging around the youth of the university would heal him.

Yeah that too.

I won't rule it out because who knows.

I think Muzzin is an important piece also, but the Leafs know better where his health is at.

Slim to none and Slim left town. I think the only way Muzzy moves (he won't but hypothetically ...) is if there's a location he loves and a team located there that in turn loves him. Three team trade. Much more likely that happens next summer.

It’s easy to make fun of Bobo but good for him. I get that people are cynical about federal holidays and stuff but Bob made a good point about not just letting this whole thing slide as a one time deal last year. People are talking, information is available and those that want to pursue it will

I think they sign ZAR either way and just waive or release or whatever another body to make room for him.

I think for sure they're gonna sign him.

Holl getting shot to the Moon is gonna need to happen. Plus others. Clifford waived and sent to Marlies.

Tavares and Liljegrn on IR to start season and when they're healthy, out the dead weight goes.

I am 100% in agreement.

And don't even get me started about people who were whinging about not getting the day off for the Queen's funeral. Give me a franking break.

- Atomic Wedgie

What's funny (not funny) is that I don't care if I get a day off or not. I'm not a small business owner - I'm a corporate drone, so the impact to me is minimal. A bit more work pushed down like a bump in a snake. I would have taken a holiday for the Queen's funeral - but to be clear, I absolutely did not care.

This holiday is so pointless. It doesn't honour the First Nations people in any way. It doesn't apologize for the past atrocities in any way. It doesn't pay homage to those atrocities in any way. There are things the government could be doing, but this one is solely for optics - and not even a good look at that.

This is completely separate from anything the government has done to directly address the atrocities. So far, the federal government has paid over $3bn directly to the victims of the abuse.

Setting a federal statutory holiday was a specific recommendation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission chaired by Justice Murray Sinclair (who is indigenous) whose report blasted government policies.
Ignoring the Commission’s recommendation would actually have been a bad look. Again, I get the cynicism and I get it’s easy to blast everything but this one is pretty straightforward. The Commission felt it was important that what happened in those schools be remembered. It’s hard to see how acting on their recommendation doesn’t honour them. People can pay attention or not.

Just conjecture, but seems to me that it would be far easier to convince Muzzin that a substantial trip to Robidas Island would be preferred to a trade to a poop-hole team. He can volunteer to be injured until a week or two before the playoffs and be there for a supporting role if required.
