Was chatting with my dad yesterday and he said he remembers people getting upset about the boards getting ads, then the ice, then the helmets, and now the jersey.

He said don’t be shocked if the NHL jerseys do end up similar to European league jerseys in 20-30 years tops.

This is inevitable and probably closer than we think.

For those folks who slagged the Gio resigning, just be glad he's back.

And at a GD discount.

I liked the signing even more when he admitted he’s willing to play both sides which made me see a spot for Sandin again

Holl and Gio shouldn't be playing 2nd pairing minutes for anything but short stretches where a key figure is out. And I definitely wouldn't want them playing together in a shutdown capacity.

If Muzzin is out for a long stretch, I'd rather see something like this:

Rielly-Liljegren
Gio-Brodie
Sandin-Holl

I'm hoping Dubas will do something about this debacle which, clearly, is evident in any condiguration.

- mjones242

Sorry, Liljegren isn’t ready to be the defensive stability for Rielly. He got bumped by Holl in last years playoffs on the third pairing due to this.

I know you guys hate Holl but they’re not going to lean on a kid for the top pairing (Liljegren) nor lean on Holl to be the guy another kid plays with (Sandin)

Yeah, I hope it doesn’t go that far but I won’t be shocked if it does

Interesting that Muzzin said it wasn’t an injury just something he’s had to deal with for a long time. He also said the Leafs medical staff will prolong your career and that after watch Jarnrok and Kerfoot playing D he had to get back or he’d be out of a job.

Rielly also taking some reps on the right at practice today.

Hollywood may be out of ideas, but I'm not!

Thelma & Louise 2

Scene opens with the camera looking out over the canyon from where they drove the car. The drifted polaroid sits in the dirt in the lower frame of the shot. Occasionally you can hear animal noises in the distance.

8 minutes in, there is a sound - faint, like a whimper or a cry.

12 minutes in there is a sound like an explosion from somewhere not too far away - like perhaps at the bottom of a nearby canyon. Smoke rises in the air and dissipates.

1 hour and 45 minutes in, the polaroid is shifted by the wind, and slowly blows off screen.

Roll credits.

Under 2 hours, and WAY under budget. This is the new movie experience where you're encouraged to use your phone during the movie.

Call me, Hollywood.

Lol even my old man tells me naming me after him was a mistake nowadays

You used to be young Bruce, little Bruce, junior, etc and now you’re just Bruce and I’m old Bruce, wrinkled Bruce, senior, etc

So I always write “you’re still better than me” on his b day cards

His response nowadays is something like “well that’s no big deal”

You can tell we worked together for a few years… him as a plant manager and me as an estimator/designer for the same company.

Dad was the 6th of 8

That’s the difference…. I was the 1st of 3 and the only boy

My sisters weren’t named after mom but the oldest one’s middle name is the same as my my mom’s mother.

That’s another odd little kicker for me… Bruce is dad and I’s middle name… both of us always called that since we were babies. Our first name is actually Robert

There was no Bruce in my family. My sisters pushed for the name. Two of them we’re having kids a few years after I was born. My mom and two sisters were pregnant together.

Northern Alberta, baby

Oh, Jays just clinched a playoff spot

That’s where you’re from? Dad’s second oldest brother and his wife moved to Grande Prairie to settle and had their family there. I remember going there when I was waaaaaaaay younger when my cousin got married up in Hines Creek… well… I vaguely remember

Are you in court at all?

Much less ....they had to overhaul our court system in response to the pandemic so virtual is used for most.

We still get to wear the silly robes from home/office though.

And that proved to be an insanely bad choice by the coach.

Which is why Holl needs to be traded as soon as possible. Save Keefe from himself.

just to be clear - I'm not "glad" that Tavares is injured... rather I'm glad he's injured at the start of the season.

now Dubas' great (please insert sarcasm detector here) signing of Denis Malgin AGAIN will get top 6 minutes as he should be put directly in as JT's replacement.

then we'll all know within 2-3 weeks just how ineffective he really is.... yes he can play center - he's been listed as a center previously.

and here's hoping that Benn and Dahlstrom both aren't seriously injured.

c'mon Dubas... get Malgin back in there fore EVERY pre-season game.

PS yes he scored against Laval last night - good for him.. just ask yourself how much PP time he's going to get come regular season ... that's right >zero.

Peace River. My grandparents and uncle went up from Edmonton in a wagon pulled by Clydesdales in 1912. My mom was born a year later. My dad moved up in 1929 and got a job as town lawyer if he agreed to play on the hockey team.

it's not zero. it's close to it but not zero
Keefer will have him out there on the 2nd PP
And maybe Nylander with him

I think he's on the team and Robertson is sent to the Marlies cause he has a free pass to the minors.

Congratulations in winning the argument argument against *checks notes* nobody that Malgin should replace Tavares as 2C. He’s done well with Holmgren and Willie. That doesn’t guarantee him a spot on the team.

Your passion for all things Leafs is noted and appreciated but it seems like your opinion is locked in based on the last time he was here rather than the limited play he’s has so far in the preseason. I think he’s been pretty good but he’s still got to show he’s not a defensive liability if he’s going to fit

I'm not sure that Lilljegren isn't capable of being of decent partner for Rielly. Lilly took off when paired with Gio after the trade last season. I don't thin that was so much because Gio was 'great" - rather because Lilly wasn't babysitting Sandin - who's a d-zone nightmare.

the comparison should be between Rielly and Sandin - I think that's a pretty straight forward story. Saddling Lilly to Sandin caused him to play scared and pretty much play alone in his own zone.

to be clear - I don't hate Holl like some on here do. Holl did fine when Muzzin wasn't a corpse - particularly on the PK. WHomever plays with Sandin is going to be the weak link - because no one wants to come out and say that Sandin is dzone disaster.
