name 3 players on the team today who will be on the team when they next reach the WCF - I do think Jones will be unloaded somehow in the next 2 yrs - glennjpawlak22
Name three players on the team today that you want on the team in three years..Short list. Probably prospects Mitchell, Vlasic, Regula or other prospects who play "minorish" roles this season. |

Have to wonder if this team is capable winning games. No defense and no scoring . |

There's at least 3 of us who won't be alive the next time they are in the WCF

The FO has laid out a pretty clear plan for the next season or two, though it seems completely lost on some. |

Exactly, all in on the rebuild until the puck drops.

Yep, the strategy is pretty well laid out. Some here who are on the record of liking that strategy won't be able to tolerate the rebuild process. It is going to be a long process with plenty of painful watching, but it's not like we're being asked to give up brown liquor, ffs. |

Could be 20 years before they get that far again. |

Hey Chunk
A step in the right direction is to draft and develop well. An under the radar sign, though, is this Swede Roos.
Have you seen him yet? I am unaware if any.guarantee of games played was part of his sign. He has a limited footage of his game which I saw after we signed.him. it looked encouraging and with some SEL experience, the question is what his ceiling may be. Not a Runsblad, but did he really sneak through the cracks and fall into our lap
Roos hasn't returned to Sweden or left for Rockford - yet. Perhaps he earned a look as he looks more comfortable due to experience and training camp injuries.
What is your evaluation of Roos? |

I only saw the exhibition games he played. Last night he and Vlasic wee paired together, and Roos looked better. In context this was probably the worst game that I have seen Vlasic play.
My guess is if it is between Vlasic and Roos who makes the opening day roster (because of the injuries), I think Regula is a given then Roos over Vlasic. Roos is also is currently the better offensive player, he was running the second power play last night, and was OK

Hey Jhawk. I’ve not seen a second of hockey yet. I’m working in Zurich for the time being. I get to go home for a week on Oct 22, then come home for the holidays at the end of Nov, but I won’t be able to watch any action for a while. Sucks because I actually want to watch right now. I like being able to just focus on one or two players for an entire game. It’s harder to do when you are watching a winning team.

Does anyone think the Blackhawks might grab anyone off the waiver wire to keep more kids together in Rockford? I had read somewhere that the Pens might be forced to waive a defender who still has a lot of potential. When I was looking at their roster on Capfriendly I saw that they're paying Jack Johnson's buyout for 4 more years. OUCH!

The good news is the #Blackhawks are going to have about $45M in salary cap space and a top-3 pick in 7 months. |

It’s possible, but I doubt it. If there’s someone on waivers who makes the Hawks worse then it could happen. |

For all those that wanted the Hawks to pick up Sonny Milano, he was released from his PTO by Calgary.

Not sure but if you claim someone on waivers, he has to stay with the parent club and can't be sent down. So if by chance there is that young prospect with potential out there, he'll have to learn the ropes under fire in Chicago.
Besides most of the players that are being waived are either over the hill veterans or journeymen 12th, 13th 14th forwards or 6th, 7th, 8th D. If they were better they would stick with their original club.

The salary cap won't be an issue for the Hawks for several years.
They won't have another significant cap hit until Bedard's 3 year ELC expires at the end of the 25/26 season, (assuming the clock starts on him next season). Or when Fantilli's expires after the 26/27 season (assuming he plays one more year at Michigan before he turns pro). Korchinski's ELC will also probably expire after 25/26 or 26/27. FWIW, by that time the cap is expected to be in the low to mid 90M's.
Can't see the current crop of kids - Reichel, Mitchell, Vlasic, Regula, Phillips, Roos, Soderblum, Raddysh, Katchouk, Entwistle - breaking the bank when their ELC's expire within the next two years.
And I doubt KD will spend like a drunken sailor on free agents until he needs a final piece or two to supplement the prospects. That's several years away too. |
