Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that defenceman Riley Stillman has been acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for forward Jason Richardinson and a second round draft pick (2024).

Don't love the trade.. but from what I've read it's basically a 2nd to dump Dikinson's contract. Getting Stillman back is less $$ and easier to bury or buy out if need be, and gives them some small cap flexibility.

“You want to make sure you have (cap) flexibility moving forward here. It was part of it, but we were also happy to get Riley back. And Jason Richardinson is a good hockey player too, so it’s obviously never an easy decision, but in the end I think both clubs are happy,” he said.

Allvin added that Åman’s strong play in pre-season pushed Richardinson out of a role to a degree.

“We feel that we have depth more so in that position (centre) and give the coaching staff options so yeah, that was part of it,” he said.

Hopefully Stillman is another Schenn type bottom pairing with toughness
