I’m not worried about the draft, I’m just having some fun.
On the brighter side, Colton Dach was named captain of the Kelowna Rockets. I’m not sure on the exact numbers, but it seems there are a good number of Hawks prospects who wear the C or A for their respective junior teams. - DarthKane
What is this "brighter side" of which you speak? |

Man what a classy guy DeBrincat is. Great little piece from him in the players tribune. Pulling for that kid and I hope Ottawa makes some noise up there. I just hope Sens fan don't try to run him off like this board did a few years ago when he was getting quality chances and just had the worst luck finishing........ |

I went through the exercise of looking for possible offer sheet candidates for the hawks to target in order to accelerate the rebuild and reach the cap floor over the next few seasons. ADB was the best candidate I could find. He'll likely be a captain someday. Great kid.

Supposedly he's talking to Ottawa and an extension. per his article sounds like the hawks made it clear they were going in a different direction.
I hear you on the OS but with cap rumored to go up....it's a big price to pay with picks for a team with massive holes all over the ice. i think this year when they sniff sub 55 points, and 19/88 get dealt....we hit rock bottom and stay here another year (2023-24) and get another top pick.
Going to be a long ride in the bottom. |

Darth was just mirroring the hockey world's overall distaste for teh Hawks tank move, so many "writers" are saying stuff like watch they will finish last and end up losing teh lotto and picking fourth.
Sure might / could happen.
Not that we are not watching Bedard having 7 goals and 15 points in 8 games.
But the slacker scored all but two at even strength, one on teh PP and one on the PK.
The thing that may set this draft apart from so many is many many many of these forwards are all at least six foot already.
Having no paid profession at this stage, allows me time to attempt a ranking and I am going to say it again, there are so many kids with attributes that push them into early selection categories.
It is a really perfect year for the tank. |

Ask and you shall receive:
I just want to say that anyone who gets the chance to see the World Junior Under-17 should. This last one was a huge eyer opener to the talent coming out of the this draft class. The Canada team was SO good; smart quick talented.
Did you click on the player names on the site? Because if you do, you see my thoughts on them as I keep filling them in , adding to them etc.
Brayden Yager
A shoot first centre - wing who displays one of the best releases in junior. A hard accurate shooter who has improved his playmaking, and regularly scores or creates highlight goal. His wrist shot is is fast off his stick, and his traffic area play highlights his strong puck work and shooting skills. He knows how to play off coverage, making himself an available option for his puck carrying teammates. Likes to rocket in on zone entries from the left wing side. Models his game after Nathan McKinnon.
What I like about him is he is a scorer, and he is another Nazar type fearless when in between groups of defenders converging on him. Ultra smart in the attack zone.
(Note: I am not sure how many of the draftniks have him at 4th overall, there are others who are really nice prospects who can be stars and may get selected earlier. Yager might be be around longer because teams are going to like the bigger thicker alternatives...
Oh and I just realized those were my rankings, which I continue to move around. - wiz1901
Im going to slip over to the rink and watch him practice a few times this year. Can tell alot about a prospect on how he works during practice.

Connor Murphy took a puck to the face in practice. He’s bleeding and heading back to the room. |

Over under is 6.5 for tomorrow. Its the banner raising ceremony for the Avs so you'd have to think that the over is fairly likely. |

It seems like regardless of the actually slot they will be in a good place with a lottery pick this year as well as the year after - where this year should be a can't miss and next year they have to hit on.
K2 also needs to turn into a useful player and it will be interesting to see when they let him play with the club. I believe next year is WHL or NHL only. |

Hawks may give up 7 by themselves. Only thing that kills that under is if the Avs get bored after being up 4-0 after 1.
SHould have back to back years of top 4 picks (worst case scenario). |

Just load up 19-88 so both can bank points and increase their value. Put either Athanasiou or Raddysh with them....let Johnson and Domi be an old school expansion team line.
Man those D pairings are scorched earth. |

I am torn on this......I think it comes down to IF he gets traded, where he ends up, and if the competitive fire for playoff hockey is relit.
If it is, I can see him going the Jumbo route and signing with contenders on relatively cheap deals and playing 2/3 C and not having to worry about being a 1C where he isn't there anymore physically. |

How did both Nashville and San Jose get to play a regulation game while they were over the salary cap? Do they loose draft picks next draft? or, do every other team get to play a game over the cap? Bettman is a joke and needs to go now |
