Doubt they make a switch after 1 game, gotta try and see if some chemistry can be built.

Not sure why Krebs is getting any hate tonight. Was on their best line tonight and created a goal. I wouldn't touch that line, and I doubt meatballs changes any of them after a win.

Fun times in the arena tonight. My only complaint is the SOG counter. Where is it?

Definitely a fun time tonight. Really solid crowd.

Owen power, joker, Lybuskin (Risto 2.0) were terrible.

Cozens looks amazing

JJ looks 100x better than he did in preseason

If we played a better team. We get rolled

But it’s game 1 and we won. So everything I said was irrelevant

I still have to rewatch the game, but on first blush the only Sabres who had a noticeably bad game IMO were Power and Mitts. And, after the first period I thought Power got better. Mitts had a rough one but still had a couple scoring chances. I agree with the coach that guys were gripping the stick tight out there. there were opening night butterflies to be sure.

I thought Asplund, Okposo, and Z had a nice night playing Ottawa's top line. If Asplund or Z had any scoring ability that line could have had 2 goals.

This is what it can be like if we get good goaltending. Craig Anderson will give us good starts until he gets hurt/tired. He made the saves when we needed them.

Rasmus Dahlin was the best player wearing skates tonight. He exerted his will all over this game. When no other Sabre was awake in the 1st period, Dahlin was laying hits. And, when the comeback happened, his brilliance made it happen. His ability to exit the zone on his goal was something maybe 5 players in the world can do during an NHL game. It was a thing of beauty. Great pass by Krebs too from behind the net for the finish.

I saw two painful blocked shots for Sammy and a play where Dahlin got caught but, guess who, was waiting to save his buddy just where he should be.

Finally, Cozens and Peterka have a bit of chemistry already. They know what each other are doing out there. Really nice to see.

Could not have been a better opener.

I noticed that too. Totally gone.

Edit: I'll go out on a limb and say shot counters on the ribbon screen don't produce ad revenue; however, valve filter gaskets apparently do.

The top line got crushed, badly.

Bottom 6 carried the day. Swap Girgs with Krebs for half a shift = goal.

I agree. It’s a nice balance. Penalty was questionable

The obvious interference along the boards with the puck long gone was a questionable penalty?

Stop it.

That's both crazy and not really surprising. Think about it. At no point in NHL history have teams relied on such young players. Unless you were truly special, you weren't really entering the league until maybe 22-23. Even then, teams had only like one or two rookies, most "young guys" were early to mid 20's. Veteran rosters were the norm.

Once the salary cap came, teams were forced to lean on younger players, thus speeding up the game. And now that the Sabres have not only purged most of those older vet type of players and actually backfilled with young, good players, we get to see the youngest roster ever snag a W in game 1. Which I find to be pretty cool.

I am not sure which is worse, the sabres trying to make casey a top 6 player or the bills trying to make moss a viable running back on a super bowl team

Random observations from last night.

- Crowd was unbelievable. After we had a horrific start to the second period a guy a few rows behind me yelled out "You can't play like this in front of Josh Allen". Hilarious.

- Owen Power was awful. I mean really bad.
- Asplund is the truth
- I've been saying this for a while - our speed is going to keep us in a lot of games until the skill catches up
- Lebushkin brings a lot of things that we don't have. He also makes a fair amount of Risto-like plays
- Dahlin looks like he took another step. He was also really, really physical.
- This game was the perfect example of why the team needed to stay the course and play the kids. For the most part they were bad, but that will pass. I think we are already seeing it with Cozens.

Should Adams have taken Matt Beniers 1st overall instead?

Not at all - if you have a shot at a franchise D, you take him. He will be fine and dare I say a star. All I could think of when I watched the movie was that I was so happy that Krueger wasn't here to Krueger him.

Anyone watch the new HellRaiser on Hulu. Is it worth it
- Buff36

It was good. I'd put it ahead of many in the series but behind #2 and the outer space one. Making Pinhead female was odd at first but she was pretty good overall. Main character was meh but I watch for the cinebyte action and gore, not character development.

Power had a tough game. We was pretty stinky, looked very nervous.

He'll be fine, kinda a power puff currently though....

Anderson, the starting goalie of the 2022/23 Sabres looked great.

I was promised comrie was the guy , thanks 🌮

Thanks, good report.
Think Power got better as the game went on, a lot of the 1st was Joker not moving his feet and not giving Owen outlets. They will give it some time, but I believe they need a different partner for Power cause Joker isn't it. See where it goes
