Think Power got better as the game went on, a lot of the 1st was Joker not moving his feet and not giving Owen outlets. They will give it some time, but I believe they need a different partner for Power cause Joker isn't it. See where it goes

Random observations from last night.

- Crowd was unbelievable. After we had a horrific start to the second period a guy a few rows behind me yelled out "You can't play like this in front of Josh Allen". Hilarious.

- Owen Power was awful. I mean really bad.
- Asplund is the truth
- I've been saying this for a while - our speed is going to keep us in a lot of games until the skill catches up
- Lebushkin brings a lot of things that we don't have. He also makes a fair amount of Risto-like plays
- Dahlin looks like he took another step. He was also really, really physical.
- This game was the perfect example of why the team needed to stay the course and play the kids. For the most part they were bad, but that will pass. I think we are already seeing it with Cozens.
- Slump Buster

Power. Lybuskin and joker were horrendous. Both joker and power were afraid of making a breakout pass or d to d regroup pass. Lybuskin is Risto 2.0 in a bad way.

I thought the Sabres as a collective group looked slow. The best skating and best line was cozens line.

I think if we played a good team. We get spanked.

Giving up 4 breakaways was not good.

But again. Like I said before. We won and got an ugly win.

Not blaming it all on Joker, but he was standing still in the D zone a bit and even ran into Power in the front of the face off circle causing Power to turn it over. When your partner isn't giving you outlets it makes it tougher.

Ottawa made the Sabres look slower, mainly because they are a fast skating team IMO.

I am most excited about Cozens game. I think that is why stood out the most.

His speed and skill has improved tremendously.

Its Game ONE. yes Power looked like a Rookie mainly bc he IS. We looked a little scared in the first, but from what I watched we pretty much out played the sens the 2nd and 3rd. We started to use our speed.

JJ is gonna be a very good player for this team. The kid line is going to do some real damage this year.

I am excited for the season.

I think it was a normal sloppy game 1. Players looked bad. It happens.

Do I think Owen power sucks? Absolutely not. I think he was nervous and gripped his stick tightly and didn’t play great. Quinn I would say the same for.

Boy was the PP awful last night, how many times are they going to try to dangle through all 4 guys to enter the zone... it doesn't work. They actually got some zone time once they started the dump and chase.

Agreed. This will continue to be the one area where the miss Eichel. At some point I hope to see Quinn swapped in for Skinner (Jeffy was brutal last night).

I haven't seen much talk about Samuelsson - he and Dahlin were easily the two best defensemen. If you didn't know any better you would think that he has been in the league for 10 years. That contract is going to be a steal.
