it was a long cold ride home from minnesota after the second super bowl loss
- homiedclown

Meanwhile I hear from coworkers how the drive back from Miami was great after the colts Super Bowl.

This is all very sad. It’s a joke with most my bone WNY friends about Buffalo. Everyone knows that ain’t won poop.

I just hope the Bills get healthy. If they are, the only thing that can beat them is themselves.

Most people out side of Buffalo don’t care about the bandits. They have won a poop load though.

Erik Gudbranson just got $4M per. Risto got $5.1M last year.

Samuelsson is the 75th highest paid d-man in the league at time of signing, how quickly before he is border line top 100 paid ? Not to mention the deal doesn’t kick in till next year.

Even if he doesn’t improve at all I feel comfortable saying he’s a second pair guy.

Very minimal risk this doesn’t age well but it’s possible (injuries)

- Pegullaville

Those guys were signed as second pair, imo.

I'm good with the deal, just don't agree on the third pair part. He's a player I'd take the risk on.

yeah aside from the orange getting 1 basketball title and the 2 series for the jays, I have never felt joy in team sports

hopefully the bills will change that this winter

While the droughts have certainly sucked,
I’d say they made me more of a fan of the leagues overall, instead of being so focused on the Bills/Sabres

Great to see the Bills doing so well,
and the Sabres moving in the right direction

Same for me with the NFL.

It's harder for me to watch the rest of the NHL when the Sabres suck for whatever reason. Outside of the playoffs, I rarely tune into out-of-market games

Most of the time when I have tuned into to other regular season games over the past 5 years, I'm sitting there depressed thinking "yup, they sure are better than the Sabres." Hard to take enjoyment in it

it's different when you move out of state and can drive to a few tampa games a year and adopt them as your second team

which has become easy due to sabres playoff draught

I cant stand the jags, bucs or fins though

There is risk with any long term deal, but the benefit outweighs the risk.

If he’s a top 4 d-man throughout the contract that would be heck of a value the way d-men contracts are trending including the cap going up.

If he ends up being a third pairing guy, he is slightly overpaid until cap goes up and he’s paid accordingly to the role he plays.

Would much rather take these type of risks then paying a guy about to be on the wrong side of 30 for past performance

Yeah that makes sense.

I watch a lot of NHL highlights but rarely, rarely watch an out-of-market game live

I think or at least hope there is pressure to compete and have meaningful games in march

but it's odd to reward the coach and gm who already have term, extensions for finishing in the bottom 8 of the nhl

unless terry has a new lease on life and has learned from the past sabres mistakes

- homiedclown

Agreed. It's a strange time to be so content with what they have. Doesn't feel like a hockey move.

I feel like a lot of NFL fanbases have kind of adopted the Bills for that very reason (in the sense that if their favourite team doesn’t win they wouldn’t mind seeing the Bills finally get one).

I’m sure if the Bills finally get over the hump though, it won’t be long until they become hated

I’ve gotten into watching a decent amount of Western conference games over the years
Easier to do so since i don’t hate any of those teams the way i do with Boston, Philly, Toronto, etc

I wonder how much of that has to do with regional broadcasts being crummy.

I’ve tried to watch games myself but it makes my ears bleed watching some of these American regional broadcasts.

Living where I am I watch a ton of leafs games as a creature of habit and then stream the Sabres games.

With a 7 month old though it may be tougher to watch too much going forward but I’ll certainly try.

I’ve seen the Colorado mammoth win two championships in Buffalo.

Never thought I’d say that.

Already have a ton of pictures of him in Sabres onesies. He will be wearing one tomorrow for game day.

I already catch enough grief for converting my cousin to the “dark side”. He is 18 and yet to see a good Sabres team but was the first to blow up my phone when they signed Samuelsson while I was at work.

I’m doing my best in the heart of Leafs nation

Anyone ever get a $30 million contract in the NHL without scoring a NHL goal? Seriously, is that history?

Someone want to give me a complete scouting report on MS

I knew it when Dubas brought him in, even worse he didn't dump a contract in return
