A coach is not going to just focus on a win, he's going to focus on process. The process overall was not good. That can also be looked at as just one game. Playing like that is not a recipe for consistent success.
- MJL

I don't think the process was that bad tonight. There were stretches at the end of the 2nd and the later half of the 3rd where the Flyers were clearly outplayed, but they were outplayed because they were tired, not because they were not paying attention to detail, which to me are very different things. I think TK summed it up best after the game, and I am paraphrasing: "We got tired there near the end of the game but I'm proud of the way we stuck together and persevered". Last year we all know the Flyers lose this game, tonight they stuck together and made enough plays to win. I think the Flyers deserve credit for this one.

I thought Hart looked great for a goalie who didn’t have a pre season.
- SuperSchennBros

Agreed, he made some big saves tonight and got better as the game went along which is what you expect. I was not happy with either goal against and I would like to think he will stop these types of shots as he gets more games under his belt.

Frost haters on suicide watch

Not at all ... Frost was good tonight, but compare his two goals to TK's, not even close.

In the context that I'm using them in, it's not about just this game. It's about looking at how it projects for future success. You aren't going to win a lot of hockey games where you're on the bad side of shot attempts at 62-28 and scoring chances at 33-14. If I'm Ruff, I look at this game thinking my goalie sucked and if we play that way, we'll win a lot of games. If I'm Tortorella, I'm thinking there were some good things and some young guys scored, which is a big boost to confidence, but we really didn't play well overall.
- MJL

And you call what I say nonsense?? Who the f cares about shot attempts?? That is a useless statistic. What I care more about is high danger chances, and the Flyers for *most* of the game did very well to block shots in the slot and keep chances to the outside. That is exactly what you want to do. You can't score on a shot attempt, only a shot on goal, and in today's NHL, it better be a shot from the slot area!

I thought Carter Hart and Travis Konency were the two best players on our team. Provorov probably the third. I think Hart has to have the first goal. The second one I think he lost site of the puck. He didn’t miss it, he just didn’t see it.

We’ll see where they go from here but not a bad start. Hart was good even without a warm up game. Provy had a very good game. TK, Allison, Frost…those with a propensity for shooting the puck, buried their chances.

No reason to boo Ellis. He is simply injured. He plays a style that would be loved if able. Folks, don’t believe the conspiracy drama. He would be playing if he could. I’m sure he already feels bad. Not cool to boo him.

Oh, I forgot to mention this in my earlier post, but it actually sounds as if they have a REAL goal song this year! The goal songs the last few years have been absolutely brutal! Call it a come back!

I really don't dislike the guy cause I really don't know anything about him cause I don't follow the Sixers, but I do enjoy getting under a certain someone's skin on here that does follow the Sixers like they were his first born.

Yeah, it's kind of ridiculous in reality. I really try to take the high road, but in some cases that is simply impossible.

Thanks for this! I was tracking online but don't have HULU/ESPN. Need to cut the cable cord when contract is up and switch. That said, I'm glad to hear about Frosty! He's almost at half the goals he had last season! Yes, only one game but hopefully it gives him much needed confidence.

So again, you've been manipulated into an opinion by reading one quote by a player. The Flyers aren't going to win many games playing that way unless Hart stands on his head.

LOL, where do you get this from. Konecny's goals were long range shots that found the net and were bad goals by Blackwood. Frost's first goal was a snipe in the far corner where the goalie had no chance. A goal scorer's goal. You have no clue.

Your ignorance to facts and how they are compiled is amazing. By definition, scoring chances are not plays to the outside. Scoring chances were 33 to 14 in favor of the Devils. High danger scoring chances were 11-4 in favor of the Devils. Shot attempts show who had the puck and carried play. You may believe that what happened last night is exactly what you want to do, but that's just more ignorance.
