I felt the same way when I was required to get "certification" to do a job I was already doing for years. I passed it and no one cared and I got nothing. - JimmyP
I feel you man. I needed the degree to get my present job. I, in no form or fashion, am using it. They trained me for 2 months anyway. I feel like anyone who can take direction and isn’t (frank)in dumb can train in a few months if they take the time and immerse themselves in what it is that needs to be done. You certainly don’t need a journo degree to do it. |

The funny thing is I worked with Staple for a few years covering HS sports for Newsday in the early 00s but I “fell” into the job I got and when Newsday laid me off in ‘06 or ‘07 I didn’t even care. |

Honestly other than the goal, what did Wahlstrom do? For me not much. |

He had a goal and an assist, and one noticeable hit.......all in less than 10 min TOI. And he was +2. Not a bad effort. |

It will be interesting to see how Lambert handles Salo after a pretty terrible performance. There's no doubt that if Trotz was still here it wouldn't be a question that he'd be sitting tonight. It will be a window into his thinking regarding young players. - PeteM
I think he (Salo)redeemed himself. And you are correct in that if Trotz was still in charge Salo would have been sitting. Glad to see him bounce back.

He certainly did. Maybe Aho going on IR yesterday was a blessing. Yet we still don't know how Lambert would have handled the situation had Aho been healthy. |

I hate to poop on Chara and Greene (especially) but they were done. Too slow for this league.
If we can keep these 6 guys remotely healthy all year, plus Sorokin gets a 75/25 split over Varly…we’re a defensive team again. Like I said on the last page, we just need consistent scoring. Which….I’m not 100% on yet. But, this sport starts from the net on out so I’m feeling pretty good about that. - potvin05
No question Chara and Greene were done.
7 goals will not happen all the time but it's nice to see the defense helping out on offense. Using just the 3 forwards for offense is tough.

Let's remember Mayfield had 3 goals all.last season so I wouldn't expect a ton from him. That being said it will help to get the d up.in the play regularly |

After two games, what do we think? Is this a 1-goal-a-game team or a 7-goals-a-game team? |

No way I'm expecting huge offensive numbers from the D but the D being a threat will be a help. The offense was just not working for the Islanders. Some change in style had to happen. I think the players will g=have more fun and have less burnout with the current system. |

I give the Islanders all the credit in the world for capitalizing and getting it done but the Ducks may not be the best measuring stick
With that said I’m really liking Romanov’s game. |

No question the Ducks were not the best test but it was fun for the players and the fans and teams will need to adjust to the Islanders a lot more now.

They know how to win playoff hockey but yea its not sustainable over 82 so a more open style should suite them especially with sorokin in net |
