My daughter volunteered today at the Toronto Waterfront Marathon, and came home with a bag of free snacks.
There was a bag of grain-free, vegan, 100% avocado oil nacho chips.
They are so franking disgusting.
Trust me on this one - I ate the entire bag. - Atomic Wedgie

Leafs looking very pedestrian thus far. - Shady1962
This is largely because Matthews and Marner have not hit their stride yet. Of all the concerns I have about the Leafs, that is the least. |

I think Line 3 could also be a scoring line but we’ll find out tomorrow I guess. Rather be getting ozone time regardless. Line 4 has been run over statistically. - Garnie
So a tiny little guy who hits the ice so often due to the physical play of the game should be on a defence comes first line?
Ok sure perhaps I’m wrong but I highly doubt it.
Tbh the first move won’t surprise me if they get Simmonds into the game to ramp up the team. |

They might play Simmonds in Winnipeg since those games get a bit nasty but I really think that’s it unless they’re trying to help showcase him. If Robertson plays, it’s on the second line. |

Remember the next game is against Arizona so that’s a game where Simmonds has a chance not to get outplayed
And if Robertson goes in I think it will be in place of Malgin to either take the role or get Malgin going… unfortunately Malgin needs to step up his game or he won’t even reach 30P… which is quite frankly not acceptable in a top 6 roll for a team who considers itself a contender. You don’t get 20 games to prove yourself on a team like that… you’re lucky if you even get 5. So I wonder if they don’t play Robertson on Monday it’s to see if Malgin ramps up his game a bit, and if he doesn’t, then Robertson takes that spot for the game against the Stars |

Either way I think they’ll work Nickie into some games now that there’s some flexibility and Malgin’s spot is the place that makes most sense. Somebody is going to have to go (someone more expensive than those two) when/if everyone is healthy. |

Yup, I’m truly curious to see if Malgin steps up his game if he feels he might get sat… some guys are like that… great little thing? No, not really, but at least it works. |

Seeing Kampf spend a lot more time in the D Zone shouldn't be a suprise...
OZ starts
Matthews 72%
Tavares 76%
Kerfoot 37%
Kampf 10%
And the Kampf line is getting the most difficult dzone starts. Last night toe-to-toe with Tkachuk.
The numbers are always going to skew against Kampf given his starting position. I'd get really used to watching those 3 guys continue in that role. |

Im going to have to agree there and say Robertson replaces Malgin. If he can score and get going well then he will earn that spot and it will make Malgin really have to play harder. It also puts fresh legs into the lineup since it is 4 games in 8 days. Bottom lines I would think Simmonds is going to get in and things will shuffle a bit. Can see Engvall out or put down to bottom line. Mete I think slots in for Sandin. Both Engvall and Sandin are still trying to get up to speed having missed camp too.
Its not that hard to see where its going to get altered really. |

Exactly… not so much position replacement as simply using the ability to have extra guys as a way to give lower key guys rests and/or motivation |

Positive takeaways over giveaways
Kampf +3
ZAR +1
JT +1
NAK and Matthews led the team in hits with 6 each. That’s good 4th line stuff. I really enjoyed watching them. |

exactly what I've been saying... first Malgin should not get "unlimited" time to prove himself, he hasn't played badly however he hasn't really done anything noteworthy either.
give Robertson also 3-4 games.. to see if he can do better -and they can't wait for ever to give him a chance...
same for the Sandin situation...
and they have some freedom of movement because of Murray LITR situation - so use it.

This is the biggest thing right now. I'm perfectly good with how Samsonov has played preseason and now two games regular, that going with him as starter and Kallgrens as backup doesn't bother me at all. They can get it done I think. Murray going down just lets us actually get a full roster at this point so run with it and see. If/When Murray comes back well then that will make things... interesting but cross that bridge when we get there. We got a month at least with him gone so.... |

What tiny guy?
4th line would still be Zar Aubel Engvall
Line 3 could produce with Robertson Kerf Jarn
Wouldn’t hurt to try but 1 of line 4 would need to come out as they’ve been terrible.
At least give it a try without moving the top 6 1st. |

Well, he also started there with Engvall ( meaning Engvall also started in the dzone ) and Kampf’s stats were that of a NHL player and Mikheyev also started there with Kampf and had great #’s and when they’re not with Kampf Kampf’s #’s plummet. It’s not the dzone starts that are hurting him, he’s just not that good…unfortunately because he’s cheap. |

Yup, Robertson slots into the top 6 or nothing at all. - Dozzer
I can not wait to see Robertson with JT and Willy. Robertson can snipe big time and playing with JT and Willy will give him the chances to show his stuff. He was great in exhibition so hopefully he draws in for Malgin. Keep in mind Malgin is good but he has also been unable to lock down an nhl job. Samsonov is doing exactly what I predicted and was hoping for. Murray has to be the most fragile player in recent times, just unbelievable. |

A line 3 like that had next to no size.
Won’t work if they have primary defensive responsibilities |

For those of you looking to go to a Leafs game, you may want to look at the prices on Ticketmaster this morning.
There's value to be had - lots going for under face value. |

I disagree that Robertson is a tiny little guy, Debrincat (5'7" and 165lbs soaking wet) and Caulfield (5'6" 170lbs) are tiny. Despite their size both players are top six players on their teams. Robertson has an elite shot and playing with top six forwards has a chance to be successful. Robertson is 5'9" and 185 lbs about the size of Brendan Gallagher (or Marcel Dionne - 6th all time NHL scorer - ahead of Lemieux, Yzerman and Sakic) So he is short, but stalky. He's also only 21 years old - won't be 22 until September of next year. If he adds a few pounds of muscle, he will be about the size of Brett Hull.
