Friedman: “I have to say this. So I went on Don Taylor and Rick Dhaliwal’s show, I go on every two weeks, and I want to say thanks to them because they donate my earnings to the Canucks Autism Network, which I’m proud to donate too, and I said that one of the comparables there I think is Couturier. That it is Couturier, $7.5 . And people were like, Bo Horvat should be in the 6’s.

Friedman: “And I said, ‘are you guys nuts?’ Do you think, look at where contracts are going here for centers. Do you really think you’re going to get Horvat in the six millions? Come on.
It’s starting with seven at least, and we’ll see where it goes. Now, I don’t know if it’s going to get to eight . I don’t know that. |

Those turkeys earlier said Boeser got fair money.... so they think Bo and Boeser are comparable players?
Is Boeser one of the top face off C's in the league? No. Is he even a C? No. Has he ever scored 30 goals? No. Is he a big playoff performer? No. Does he play near top minutes in the league for a forward? No. Does he get assigned toughest match ups in shut down roles? No. Has he ever left money on the table in his contracts like Bo has? Not even close... in fact, he takes a share of cap space needed for better players.
I would love to see Horvat sign for something in the 6 range but with Boeser as a team comparable and too many league wide comparable making money north of 7... it aint going to happen.
Management made it's choice... instead of Miller and Horvat... it's Boeser and Miller. Why? because they couldn't bring themselves to lose player control over Boeser. Well congrats... you have control over a soft one dimensional player who is grossly overpaid on a team that has to make decisions on whether they can now afford their better players.
I said this before... if creating $1.6m in cap space is worth giving up a 2nd rounder... how is losing player control over Boeser not worth $6.65m worth of cap space? This management is so backwards. |

Although I agree with a lot of this. Why can’t they have Bo as well? Cap is going up in the next few years. |

Because Bo's contract is up at the end of this season not in a few years. Petey is going to get a raise as well the season after. They were never going to be able to afford three 30+ goal centers and bring in the type of D they need all under the cap over the next two seasons at the same time as shoveling this kind of money at Boeser. A 5 year old with a Fisher Price calculator could figure that out.
People are getting ahead of themselves on the cap limit increasing down the road. Too much can happen with Covid quietly still an upcoming issue and this world war that is looking more and more likely by the month.

Special team woes are a deflating problem. Very disappointed in a lethargic PP & the the shorties. If the PP was even more reasonable the PK wouldn’t look as bad being could’ve salvaged at least 1 point or even 2. |

Not liking the chemistry on the lines. There is simply not enough offence & the backcheck mediocre. |

Coach BB agrees.
As mentioned in the blog they're swapping the wingers for JTM and BoHo
Pearson-Horvat-Boeser
Podkolzin-Miller-Garland
Kuzmenko-Pettersson-Lazar
Joshua-Aman-Höglander
When Miky is back, Hoglander or Lazar sit...until we demand that Pearson, Brock, JTM take a seat. |

I can't imagine giving Joshua more than 4rth line minutes. He's a slug. Much needed physical play but is he slow compared to everyone else on the team.

I still think the common ground will be 7 x $7 ($49m) or 8 x $6.4(ish). The extra year nets the player an extra $2+million and brings the cap number for the team down by almost a min wage player. |
