lol right.
Grooming a player along for almost 5 seasons to get him exactly where you need him to be able to move up/down the lineup only to let him walk for what? The current 4th line of cheap players lol. I do like Lazar however. - LordHumungous

You're the guy that went to league minimum when the criticism mounted on the cost of a fourth line. There's a huge difference between league minimum and giving guys Beagle? Roussel? 3M |

I watch pitchers play today and it's amazing how low they have Nolan Ryan on lists of best pitchers of all time. 222 complete games, 61 shutouts |

Doesn't he have like the most strikeouts or something?
EDIT: Yep, 5716 strikeouts, also the most no-hitters of any pitcher in history too |

He was a workhorse for 20+ years. He pitched over 300 innings multiple times and still led the league in K's with over 300 in his 40's I believe. Incredible pitcher with limited run support throughout his career. |

No, he has to be 26 or younger on September 15th of his rookie season. Which he is.
“Eligibility for the NHL Calder Trophy is a bit complicated. To be considered, a player cannot have previously played more than 25 games in any single season, nor have played in six or more games in each of any two preceding seasons, in any major pro league. In addition, Calder winners must be 26 years old or younger on September 15 of their rookie season.” - Pacificgem
I am not sure how many times I can help you out here. I'll try again.
a player must not have attained his 26th birthday by Sept. 15 of the season in which he is eligible.
This is otherwise known as the 'Michael Bunting-rule'. The Calder is generally an UNDER-26 Award.
The only way a 26 year old is eligible is if their 26th birthday comes after september 15th of that season.
Bunting, born on September 17th, was 1 day from being the oldest a player can be and still remain eligible. |

Are you going to die on this hill?
" In 1990, 31-year-old Sergei Makarov of the Calgary Flames became the oldest player to win the Calder. Beginning with the 1990-91 season, the rules were amended so that players are eligible for the Calder only if they are no more than 26 years old by Sept. 15 of their rookie season."

If you read it, it says NO MORE than 26 by Sept 15th. You can not be 26 and 3 days old on Sept 15.
26 years old or younger on Sept 15. Not 26 and 6 months old on Sept 15th.
Btw those two weren't mine. They were off hockey forum.
I also just looked at a bunch of top calder trophy candidates and nowhere did he appear on any list. |

Find a list that has him as a calder trophy candidate.
It was talked about a ton last season with Bunting being nominated. Who was 26 after the Sept 15 deadline
Ian McIntyre.
https://www.google.com/am...-first-nhl-game/%3fsn-amp
From the article.
Kuzmenko, alas, is ineligible for the Calder Trophy because of the under-26 age criterion introduced by the NHL after Sergei Makarov, one of the greatest players of his generation, was voted the award in 1990 shortly before his 32nd birthday.

His age had nothing to do with it. You've seen that Micheal Bunting was officially nominated for the award? Maybe playing with Matthews had something to do with that outcome. |

Weird about Bunting but weirder things have happened when it comes to the Leafs.
One site after another is supporting what manvan is saying about 26 before sept 15th.
So pick which ever one of the two reasons Kuze isnt eligible for the award but he's not wrong according to the hockey world. There are two reasons why he isn't eligible apparently. |
