It’s painful when people mention Hughes and Makar in the same sentence. Gudbranson and Josi. It’s like this - CanuckDon

Hello! I still maintain that Hughes should have won the Calder based on what we saw their first years but it's clear now that Makar is more than a notch above Hughes unless Hughes somehow magically breaks 80 points this year lol. Makar is basically McDavid on D that can actually play D lol. Bobby Orr-esque. |

How many times did you watch Makar play?
Or were you evaluating him on highlights? |

Haha ok ... but they WERE mentioned in same sentence in that rookie year. The gap is an ocean now ... yes. But to be clear, you comparing goodbranson (flames) or badbranson (everywhere else)? |

A good friend here has a kid that played against Makar in the AJHL when Makar was with Brooks. Saw the kid more than a few times. Stood out. |

I remember Hughe's early rookie season when we were in awe over him on the PP when he skated the puck into the O zone and after gaining the line put on the brakes and dished out a beauty of a pass after drawing in a player and creating all kinds of space for the PP unit.
Now he carries the puck to the center line and makes a predictable back pass to the rushing forwards and he simply follows the play and waits for the puck to come back to him at the blue line.
This is not on QH. This is the Canucks PP by design... robbing the team's most creative players of their natural skills. - boonerbuck
Yeah I can't believe that PP survived a coaching change.
All they do is pass it to Hughes and wait for him to do something ... and 90% of the time it's a pass to Miller who circles from out of the zone. Then he clanks one of a shin pad most of the time (once in blue moon scores) or drops it again to Hughes whose shot isn't strong enough to get through. |

I honestly didn't think his game would be as good as it is.
He is an incredible defenseman. |

Miller should not be on the PK and if Bruce won’t knock off the stupid decisions and make changes he has to go. You have been flagged for quoting Taj. Do it again and you are banned - CanuckDon

It terrifies me to think if the Canucks were picking 7th in the last draft, they would have taken Lekkerimaki. - boonerbuck
BPA
Makes you wonder why “BPA” is usually a skilled winger…
I’d like to see BCDA
Best Center/dman available |

BPA is decided by the direction the GM wants to go.
As I said last season, this draft was going to determine the direction this management want to take.
Obviously they want to take the direction of skill only, not a player who has skill with some bite. |

Do you think it’s mandatory that they make the drop pass? I saw multiple controlled zone entry’s on the PP yesterday without a drop pass. Give me a break dude 🤮 |

It doesn’t matter if Hughes breaks 100 points. Makar plays in 3 zones |

The second part wasn’t a serious comp…exaggerating as I find it incomprehensible when Hughes is compared to Makar |

Very suspicious that BPA is always a small skilled winger. |

Your controlled zone entry is still after a neutral zone drop mass most of the time.... typically after a reset or two when it finally gets skated in with 30 seconds wasted. 2nd unit usually dumps it in.
Maybe you should give us a break with defending the special teams. It was bad enough last season with your dismissals... they keep King and it doesn't change and here you are defending it again. |

I think it’s more of a personnel issue. We don’t have enough strong skaters on the team that gain the zone without the bs drop pass. Maybe the Russian should gain the zone and immediately change because he has no finish. It’s amazing that we supposedly built a team based on small, skilled players but none of them can skate. Shocking |

I don’t care for any of the coaches or management. I have no strong feelings either way. I just believe you place wayyyyy too much emphasis on coaching. This is a poorly constructed team |

This just you with tunnel vision. In this thread I have criticized players, management and coaches. You focus on the coaching comments from me.
More tunnel vision is like how you take justified criticisms and always turn it on the players regardless of what's happening. No one on here needs whipping boys more than you.

This is from a Chicago media guy.
Wonder if he has heard this from Dickinson.
I’ve heard there’s a lot of friction in that dressing room between some of the star players and then the rest of the team,” said Cohen. “It’s real cliquey in that dressing room. The way that they’re promoting players, particularly on their social media channels, and just everything that I hear coming out of that dressing room, it seems really dysfunctional at the moment.” |
