I smell what you're cooking here. My issue with Frosty is that I just don't notice him much out there. I'm pulling for him and as I've said before, this is his chance to shine and prove he is a legit NHL top 6 player. Despite being outplayed, we hung in till the end, so yes, the compete level has been nice to see. Sandstrom did come up big a few times but yes, he had his issues. I'd like to se him get a few more starts early on to get more experience. - Don Nachbaur Yeah, certainly not blaming Sandstrom for the loss. He was put in a tough spot tonight and I thought he played quite well overall, but those two goals weren't good. The second goal was badly played by the defense, but that shot was far from a snipe and should have been stopped. I totally agree about Frost. He just seems invisible way too much for someone that is trying to earn a top 6 slot at the NHL level. He's gotta earn it.
On another note, salary cap is apparently going up 4 million next year. More money for Chuckles to waste if he is still here next year. FIRE CHUCK! |

Based on his draft position and from what I've seen of him so far, at this point I will be happy if he becomes a solid 3C.
Historically #27 picks are lucky to have solid NHL careers let alone be top 6 studs. We have to start to reevaluate our perception of what Morgan Frost's ceiling is and start hoping he reaches his floor.

It was expected to be a loss this evening. The line was heavily favoring the Panthers with the Flyguys on the second of a back to back and it being the Cats home opener. This team is certainly playing with more gusto than the last 5 years combined! I like that the other team is getting pissed off at them! DeAngelo had a rough night, but did anyone see that stretch pass to spring JVR on the breakaway? Damn!! Frost as usual leaves lots to be desired. Just lacks the compete level to me. Put an "A" on TK's jersey! He's growing up under Torts and wants to be a difference maker on every shift! I know people are gushing about Sandstrom, but I thought the second and fourth goals were very weak. That 4th goal is a killer in a 3-2 hockey game. I didn't see them being 3-1 after four games, so it is what it is. I like the compete level, but the lack of talent is rather obvious. Farabee has to be better! Thanks! - Phillywhiteout
I watched a different game. Nobody other than the goaltender was really good last night but Frost was among their better forwards in the game.

"Playing from behind" hockey is losing hockey! Good effort, tough break on that 4th goal, and Zamula got schooled on that 2 on 2 for Florida's go-ahead goal. On the bright side, 4 PP goals in 4 games, HUGE improvement over last year. Thought MacEwen played way too much in the 3rd period. |

If you believe the metric Expected Goals For and Against, right now the Flyers have a XGF = 2.5 and a XGA = 3.5. Eventually this means water will find its level and the Flyers will be under water and losing more games. But if they lose like they did last night with good effort, I am fine with it. |

Effort? In the second period at 5 on 5, the Flyers attempted 3 shots on goal in the entire period. Not shots on goal but shot attempts. Do you know what expected goals measures? They were not good last night and there wasn't much to be fine with.

Couturier, Atkinson and maybe Ristolainen could fuel this team. - THE EVIL WITHIN
You would think so, they will certainly slot the current players better and add some experience. |

They were playing on the road in a back to back after a big win in Tampa, where I felt the Flyers were also outplayed. Let's face it, the Flyers are what they are. They do not have the straight line speed nor skill to compete with teams like Tampa, Florida or any of the good to top teams in the league. The only way the Flyers beat this team is if they stay disciplined in their structure, get great goal tending, and the opposing team has an off night.
In the end, I want the Flyers to end up with a legitimate shot at a top 3 pick in this draft, but I also do not want this year to be a wasted year and it will not be if 1. Torts succeeds in laying the foundation for a new culture on this team and 2. the organization determines which younger players to continue to invest in and which ones to jettison. This is at least my definition of a successful year. |

Seeing the real DeAngelo tonight. - Feanor
What's the fake one look like? Only saw the first period, was it Another invisible game from Frosty? This organization is just ruining his career don't you think?
First goal let up by Felix was very very weak.

I’m actually concerned about switching things up. On one hand I prefer Ristolainen over Seeler, the defense may hold up with or with a change. We know what Atkinson and Couturier can do but these kids are working so hard. I’m concerned with chemistry and mojo. - SuperSchennBros
What does the other hand prefer?

The thing that bugs me about Frost is he had a few chances last night and made some slick moves on zone entries, but in the end nothing comes from it. For example, Frost walks in all alone on Bob and shoots the puck in his glove. Even the analyst said correctly that when the goalie comes out that far as a forward you have to see that and deek, but Frost didn't even try. Again, to me this is Frost in a nutshell. All flash and no stash! |

It looked like one of their "efforts" from last season |

They looked tired last night and really are short in their forward line up. What are they down three top 9 forwards ? Coots , Atkinson , and tippet and down a top four dman? Like to see a full line up play. |

Frost, currently 2nd on the team (after TK) in goals per game.
Seems like he's got some stash.

The hype around him is comical. Not his fault in any way. Flyers ruined him. They sabotaged him. Funny reading about him on other boards. Future flyer hall of famer.
I am with you if he can solidify a spot it helps. They have no choice but to ride it out as cant imagine he has any value at all. Less a 3rd rd pic or what not.

They have no one who is a sure stone cold building block. These younger players are not anything special in any way. Nice solid pieces is all. Maybe Hart is one block though will see how it plays out. |

Keep up that Frost agenda though. I did not think he was one of their better forwards at all. The only time I knew he was on the ice was when he had the breakaway and he basically did nothing with that. TK was by far their most noticeable forward and has been through most games at the start of the season. I don't need to look at CORSI stats either. |

Funny how Frost gets singled out despite him actually producing but Farabee has absolutely nada despite a ton more ice time and nobody here seems to have noticed. |

What else did the analyst say? That with a D man right on his back, he didn't have the time to defend. This is what you do. Incorrectly focus on one thing and ignore the whole. You don't know what you're looking at.

I thought he had a pretty brutal game last night, but then again, so did pretty much everyone else. I think Frost catches the heat because of the way he has been promoted by the team. His ceiling probably is going to end up not being all that high at the NHL level. I know they want him to be a top 6 forward, but that simply may not be achievable. |
