This.
We didn’t add anything to our forwards. We’re still trotting out Aho. We promoted a coach from a non-playoff team. And, they expected improvement? I hate to say this after 6 games, but we’re gonna have to play out the string this season and if we’re out of playoff contention at the trade deadline, trade whoever the (frank) you can. Gonna have to build around Barzal and the their top 4 defense. And, someone has to tell Barzal to start shooting the (frank)ing puck. Guys making $9 million a year have to shoot the puck, not pass it 98% of the time. - potvin05
Lou was actually worried about having to get rid of some players if he brought in an impact forward.
Barzal should be shooting every chance he gets with these lousy wings. |

In my opinion when a new GM comes in, they need to clean house. Lou continued with Snows draft picks and sprinkled in some aging vets. Isles haven’t had a top line since 2 months of Vanek, Tavares, Okposo. I like Barzal and think he has upside, but truth is he isn’t on the level as most teams top end talent. Isles do not have a legitimate top line. Period. - kindlyrick
It's still very much Garth's team. Lou even kept Garth's Bridgeport coach and I believe many of the scouts. You cannot just hire Barry and not improve the roster. Barzal is very talented but he is not Crosby. He needs more help. Even JT had better wings than Parise and Palms. Those two trips to the ECF gave Lou a warped sense of the talent. Players like Leddy and Toews were key in being able to skate the puck out of trouble and Eberle while frustrating could keep up with Barzal. It was a very different NHL during those playoff runs as well. It was not the full regular seasons. |

For a while the Islanders had a bunch of guys that would get tons of Breakaways but could never score. LaPointe, Josh Green, Isbister, Czerkawski.. it was friggin torture. |

Czerkawski, Kunhackle, Grabner, Grabovski……the litany of non first liners asked to overproduce playing first line minutes has been constant. It’s still ongoing, and in fact gotten worse since the departure of Eberle |

Same... he literally would have a break away a game. Usually short handed and never scored.. ever.. it was like when Eddie Mush bet a race. Oooh a break away... oh it's Lapointe. Let's just sit down. |

Blake Comeau carved out a pretty solid career for himself. Pretty lengthy career for a bottom 6 guy |

Until or unless this isles management fields a legitimate first line, with elite talent, it’s going to be the same old same old.
Nelson should be the 2c, and not thrown into the top spot. That’s Lou’s job to have addressed….and it appears he’s swung and missed three off seasons in a row. 🤷🏻♂️ |

Hah. I just don’t see the recipe for success by getting rid of pts and not replacing them. |
