Knew it was coming.. I think he is gone. That last awful game was his last shot. - niteislander
Montreal or Arizona perhaps....
A bit surprised we wouldn't at least try and grab a late pick or something |

SERIOUSLY bellows waived and Ross is still here I give up. I get he wasn't doing great but we aren't a team loaded with talent |

If Kadri signed he would have been Center and they would have moved Barzal to Wing.. so Barzal and Lee on his wings would have been pretty good.... no? - niteislander
Maybe. Barzal on wing intrigues me greatly. |

Assume this means Robin Salo is coming up. Isles were carrying just six defensemen with him in Bridgeport. - eichiefs9

I’m sure Lou tried. Probably weren't any takers. |

No question Bellows struggled but it goes back to this team not being able to draft and develop offensive talent. Hopefully this changes with Raty and Dufour.

It's really getting to that point Upstate. Cannot take away what Lou was able to accomplish but it's 2022 now and a new approach is needed.

I think this has long been my concern with Lou. He was perfect for the clutch and grab, no two line pass days of the NHL but the league is now predicated on a wide open speed game. We proved it could still work to some degree but systems don't trump talent quite the way they used to. |

this team needs more speed youth and talent, the 4th one and Ross are antiquated although Casey has been good |

You definitely can't help but wonder what the overall plan here is. My guess is they:
A: Are confident Bellows won't be claimed at $1.2m
B: No longer value him as a pivotal piece for the future of the franchise
Either way, doing this to carry Salo is an odd move, especially while carrying Ross. We really seem to have no direction at this point. |

I see that. Hard to keep the faith right now but I am. From where I’m sitting it’s looking like last season wasn’t some one off anomaly due to Covid and a big road trip(LOL gimmea(frank)ingbreak)but more a product of what the team is. Hopefully that’s not the case but it’s looking that way right now. I said I would give it till November and that’s what I’m going too. Few days to go |

Lol, before I posted that comment I had a final sentence saying "and no, I don't think this is an indication of a trade soon to follow" but deleted it |

I never thought I would be against a big trade but I am now since a big trade would include giving up a #1. What else do the Isles have to trade or can afford to trade?

Nelson (2-ish million retained) and Mayfield for Girard and the Av’s 2023 1st.
Promote Räty to 3C. Play Pageau as 2C.

Keep Girard, or flip him to a desperate Canucks. Maybe for another 1st.
Team doesn’t get better, but it gets younger and adds draft capital. 🤷♂️ |
