Blow out or not, I'm actually enjoying the brand of hockey that's being played on the ice more than anything else. The system they had in place was brutal to watch during the JC era. |

A lot of things to like.
Coach has pretty much kept the same line combinations.
Winning faceoffs may be an unimportant metric. But I like having 4 centers that can win face offs.
Nice to see Toews playing well. He does not have to take every big face off. He has decent linemates and the same ones for a change. Linemates that play a 200’ game.
Seth Jones is either trying to do to much or he is an undisciplined defender without high hockey IQ. (same with Caleb). It is hard to tell if he is playing LD or RD or forward in our zone. Just play the position and show off your offense when the opportunity arises.
Stock trending up for deadline (yes it’s early) trade deadline. Domi, Toews, T. Johnson, J. Johnson, Lafferty,
Who had Mrazek not making it healthy through the first 4 games.

2ND!
Welcome Zach, thank you for taking over the reins.
Everyone thought Hawks were gonna be terrible, but low and behold it's a veteran roster with a lot of guys trying to prove themselves. PLUS a coach trying to show people what he's got.
A LOT like Vegas Year 1. Only dif is that a lot of the guys on the Hawks HAVE put up good years recently.
Watch out, if Coach R can get D to tighten up and stop playing C Jones (sorry, love the kid but he's terrible), they are going to surprise a lot of teams who are coming in thinking the game will be easy.

Lafferty isn’t going anywhere. Plays the style how the Hawks want to play in the future. Bottom six forwards that can skate and play a role at a reduced salary are huge in today’s NHL. |

“Huge in today’s NHL” is why he could be traded. Did we say the same thing about Hagel? Lafferty will be 28 before the end of this season. If the return is right no one is exempt from being traded during the rebuild. |

lafferty at 1.15 this year and next if he shows he can be a 3rd line player on a good team scoring 20 goals and paying good on the PK and in the DEF zone. you might return something of value. Richardenson I think due to his salary is not moving this year. blackwell probably the same. I think some of it depends come Jan/feb how the cap is looking for next year? up $1mil (think that is the min) $4mil (the max). my guess is it comes in closer to $1 then $4. you are not going to get 2 firsts but you might get some real value. when rebuilding you trade anybody and everybody with value. We could be brutal next year which might kill everybody's value. |

If Hagel, Debrincat and Dach could be traded, anyone on this team could be traded also. There are no untouchables.
Some players will be harder to trade than others due to their contracts - T. Johnson, Murphy, McCabe- or because of their NMC's. Personally I doubt if Kane and Toews will waive and seek a trade.
If Domi, Lafferty, Dckinson among others continue to put up numbers they will be gone at the TDL. |

This team is nothing like Vegas. Vegas had a bunch of 2nd line types. This group has a lot of 4th line types. Good on them for fighting back to get some wins but the talent level just is nowhere the same as it was for Vegas. |

If Domi continues to play with Kane, he will put up points. There’s no doubt that DeBrincat is a goal scorer, but let’s see how many he pots playing without arguably the best passer in the league. |

Elbows 15.
Vegas had 4th line types (before drafted) that had career years, Haula, Karlsson. before and since have never been more than a third/ fourth line player, and Karlsson is a #2 at best. Reeves, Lindberg, Carpenter, Eakin, Nosek, Bellamare, Leipsic are all 4th line types. That is just as many that are on the Hawks roster.
Having vintage Fleury with a .927 save percentage didn't hurt either. |

At the time, I remember Vegas being described as more 2nd and 3rd liners, and 2nd pair D-men. |

Still a long way from guys like Lafferty, Richardinson and Khaira who were fringe NHL players. We will see where they are after 20 games. |

Did anybody else see the article stating that the Senators could be trading Debrincat
back to the hawks because they can no longer afford to sign him. They need to sign the Russian defenseman putting them at 4 major contracts. |

breakouts have been their biggest problem. Playing patty cake to get out of the zone, letting the other team set up and not being able to get out of their zone. System there is pretty important.
Also, its important to have some shape and organization when checking and defending. When it is a disorganized poop show its a little hard to prevent goals or transition, when you know where guys are going to be and can maintain shape and structure it makes it at least more difficult for the other team to score or get through the neutral zone.
Kind of a big deal |

the title says Senators and Blackhawks potentially working out a deal to send Debrincat home. It just makes sense. |

Don't think it's possible for at least another year. What is the league rule on trades back to the originating team?
edit: Well, I have found that it is addressed if any salary is retained. You can't trade a player back to his original team for at least a calendar year. The NHL also invoked the one year rule for the expansion drafts.
I found nothing specific to a normal trade with no salary retention. However, all trades must be approved by the NHL. I would think a give back of D-Cat to the Hawks, regardless of the return, would be shut down.
Someone just posted something for some mouse-clicks I think. |

I'm pretty sure that site is a rumor site like this site is, and any rumors should be taken with a huge grain of salt. |

It makes no sense they don't have him playing on the 1st unit power play at LW, from the 2 games I've seen

A while back when I was looking at our cap space for the post Kane/Toews era I got to thinking maybe KD would have the bells to offer sheet someone after this season. So I went looking for the best RFA expiring contracts ... and the only candidate that I thought was worthy was Debrincat. Cracked me up.
Trading would likely have similar cost to acquire unless he's getting 8.5+ million, but an offer sheet only takes one to tango. |
