The stat that sticks out for me (extremely short sample size) is (take away the Colorado game) the Hawks are top 5 in giving up the least high danger chances (5 x 5) per game. This is with basically the same personnel (Jones, Jones, McCabe, Murphy) on the back end.
Troy Murray was saying it all throughout the game, that the Hawks can be aggressive (both forechecking and in the defensive zone) when the player knows he has support (like the F3 covering for the pinching defenseman). We rarely if ever saw that in the JC era.
The best is the 3 foot area just inside the blue line in the defensive zone. How many times last year (too many to count), did the Hawks turn it over in that area that resulted in a high danger chance/goal. Currently the Hawks are not looking for that fancy breakout. If they don't have a clean exit opportunity, it is lofted out, or banged along the boards, and the Hawks then try to win "center ice" to get the puck in the offensive zone.
This could all go out the window tomorrow against the high powered Oilers. But they are looking like an NHL team, not a bunch of kids following a soccer ball around on Saturday morning. |

Agree.
They might lose their next 10 games. But you see good fundamentals. For the last 3 years the Hawks looked like they were at open skating at Rainbo Ice Arena. - Ztra
So iYHO is it both the coaches and Bowman responsible for the players poor fundamentals and lack of effort or interest
Probably both head coach and GM duty = failed. |

KD celebrating the one year anniversary of Bowman's resignation by emptying the farm of his draft picks.
Yes, it's been a year already. The Jenner and Block report came out on Oct. 26, 2021. - boilermaker100
its totally a tax strategy. short term losses < 1 year pay a higher tax than longer term loss > 1 year. KD is a tax guy also!!!

I believe Beaudin was chosen with the pick received from the Hartman trade. So there are no remaining pieces from that trade. - boilermaker100

Like Kane does almost every night. He needs to be gone soon. |

Replacing the small LHD vod left with the trade of Beaudin. KD also sent Riley McKay packing to the Habs's farm team Laval.
Only a matter of time until he unloads Reichel. - Elbows15
Reichel will be part of big trade at or around the tdl. Say Murphy Reichel to? For ? more than likely Davidson is looking to load up on draft picks in 2023 and 2024. |

One thing is hiring Kevin Dean who was Boston before and if not mistaken were very defensive team. |

Well, I will take care of this madness. I just signed up for Center Ice package. I swear I would never abandon this team but was not sure I needed to spend the money to watch them lose. I am all in on the #Tankhardforbedard mission, but if these guys want to play hard and win or lose, I am all in on that to.
As Richardson said a rebuild is not about losing every game. I have a lot of hope for the future of this team, and love cheering for the underdog. So great time to be watching. It can be a great experience from the coaching staff right on down to the newest players. Go Hawks !!! - oldduffman
The Center Ice Package also allows you to watch all the other teams. So when the Hawks go into true tank mode you can watch other good games. Also about 10:00p.m. Eastern time check the scores. You can watch the last 3 minutes or so of tied games. Also OT and shootouts. Worth the price of the package.

Good question. IMHO it was mainly coaching. If Luke Richardson was the coach for the last three years with the team Bowman assembled they would have been much much better. Cup contenders, no way. But playoff contenders definitely. |

Reichel moved is a possibility but his NHL ascension in Chicago is just a matter of development. We need to understand that he is not going to be a superstar and that he needed to get stronger..In no way can we assume he is a disappointment or KD does not like him on Chicsgo. Possibility could be he gets traded but we are downgrading Reichel too much. Give him an opportunity and accept that he could be a very good second line offensive player. May not be the guy you want on first line but even that is not for sure right now. |

Just depends how he looks by the nhl all star break imo will be telling.

Agreed. Reichel won’t be part of the organization to start the 23/24 season. |

I like his makeup he competes good skater two way forward but how does Davidson and company view. Do they stay patient with him and let him develop or see him as player to trade to get more assets for?

Yep I would like input on how his performance looks in Rockford as the season progresses. He appears more to be a goal scorer now but he can find a teamatte with a nice pass too. He had some of those assists when he was playing oversea before drafted. If Teply was not injured maybe you would see some asists (if he played with Teply). |

Yes the coaching didn't maximize the team's potential, but I also believe Strome and Kiubalik were not a fit for Richardson's / KD's vision on how the team should play. Otherwise KD would not have just left them both walk. Strome for sure is not hard to play against, and under the KD definition of being able to play fast, neither is Kubalik.
Glad for Kubalik that he has had a great start (points wise), but I do not believe it is (a 25% shooting percentage) sustainable. Plus watching him when Detroit played the Hawks, he was still more often on the wrong side of the puck when "defending" in the defensive zone
