Thats the Cap, many other teams are in the same boat. Makes you really think about giving up cost controlled picks and prospects for Kane.

Thats being said, if Igor doesnt mishandle the puck, we most likely win 2-1. Patience. We havent even played 10 games yet. This team will be top ten in the league by March. There is always be hiccups along the way.

Im not too worried, I know we will be fine, I just dont like that were losing games to teams we shouldnt. The Avs loss doesnt bother me.

As far as Kane... we have LAF, Miller, Chytil, Blais, Kravtsov, Reaves and Jones all set to be UFA/RFA's. Obviously LAF and Miller are guaranteed lock to stay. However Id argue that everyone else is a complete toss up. Chytil could play himself into a new contract if he can keep up this play through 82 games. With a potential 20 million in cap space next year, Ill say it again, its not out of the realm of possibility to trade for and extend Kane. I say that for exactly the reason you mentioned, cost controlled assets and picks. Othmann, Cuylle, Rydahl, Korszak, Sykora, Robertson, Garand... We can literally replace our entire bottom 6 (with the exception of Goodrow and possibly Chytil) with all of these ELC's that are locked up for the next 2, even 3 years.

With the salary cap supposedly going up by a large number the following year, in the short term it may be difficult to navigate but if we can figure it out and get to the 2024 offseason, we will be in a great place.

He's still getting those opportunities. Got absolutely robbed by Vasy twice.

Well thats the thing, he will get them, but goalies will be far more aware of him.

Reaves. He's looking slow and soft. Needs to sit a few games.

Laf and Miler will probably be a combine 9-10 million. Kane will command at least 7-9. You want to fill out the rest of the roster with 3-4 million??

You don’t need to be Fellini to figure out Krieder is not going to score 50 goals this year, anyone who thought he would is delusional. If he scores his normal 30-35 someone will need to make up the difference. Kakko? Maybe, but still not making an impact every night. Laf looks great with Trochek and bread, maybe he picks up the slack.

Thought the shootout (which I hate) was a perfect oppportunity for GG to throw Krastov out there (unless hurt) to give a shot at stardom for a moment. Also, what the hell as happened to K’andri Miller for the shootout, he has moved no one has seen save that tremendous shootout goal he scored last year, hasn’t been out there since.

I don’t want to throw the baby out with the bath water, but there is concern for the teams 5x5 scoring ability. I thought Zibanejad and Kreider would combine for 80 goals just like they did last year, however you want to split it up between them, I still think theyll do it

It’s possible. Did you notice how Avs slid a penalty killer softly toward Zib every time Fox had the puck in passing position? If other teams try that, someone could circle just below the left circle which could be open for a shot.

have you noticed Ovi has blasted shots from the same spot for his entire career.... at some point it just doesn't matter

Ovie is much stronger physically imposing player at 6’4” 235, but the shot is key and Zib has a great one timer. Also, I think the Rags have multiple options on the PP, that other teams don’t.

Thats why I say it would be difficult to navigate, however if possible, should be done. I figure Miller gets 3m like Lindgren did, LAF lets say 4m, if we can get Kane to agree to a 7m deal to play with his buddy Bread. I think were looking at something very possible, very difficult for sure, but possible.
