Why would Detroit trade for an unsigned player past this season? They are not in the rental market. Furthest thing from it...
Bo would be a score for any team who are sure to make the playoffs and have a chance of winning. A playoff stud center who pretty much does everything... should land a good return. - boonerbuck
I agree with this. Move Bo at TDL for a first a prospect and maybe a third or second. Do not take salary back with slugs that other teams are trying to move.
As far as Miller goes, I would look to the Leafs who are always looking for the big-name players. With the cap going up next year they can take him on, Tavares is done in two years, but you would probably need to take on LTIR Muzzin and their first.
Boeser to Carolina for a second
Four picks in the top 35 and clearing out 22 mil cap gives you a good start to a team that seems to have yearly issues.

Could be wrong but I think we are attaching a first to move Brock. Hopefully he comes back and can score a few and gain some trade value. Right now he doesn’t have any |

If we are rebuilding, we won't be giving away a first to rid ourselves of Brock, defeats the purpose.
He'll be here until the deadline of his last year as he has no value now.
If it is a retool and they give a first to get Brock out of here, management will be crucified. We are stuck with him, hopefully he turns it around. |

He's always calling Bo a wussy
like or not, he's still one of our most hard nosed players - golfingsince
Which speaks volumes...
I like Bo alot as a player but it's clear to me now he's not Captain material. Not even close. And I lobbied for Bo as Captain. But mentored by the Sedins I should have known better lol. |

I think Rutherford will stand Pat for a bit and try for some help on D. Like he should have done in the summer. Funny how the champs in here were singing the praises for gunslinger Rutherford not so much now hey? |

That could be but unlikely. I would dangle Hogs and Garland and maybe a sweetener and see what comes back for offers. If not there should be a Lord Of the Rings Audition we can drop Hogs and Garland off at. |

Give Ottawa a call.
They just lost their 1 or 1a center, probably for the season. They thought they needed D help but they're mostly ok there (coach is an idiot). They have prospects, picks and space for contracts.
There's a deal there. |

What happened who got injured?
Don't see a potential deal with OTT. |

If Bo is traded to Ottawa, I doubt he is coming back to Van in the summer.
Ottawa 1st and Ridley Greig. |

Big game tonight.
5-1 Canucks. Top 9 with 11 points.
Seattle down to 3rd string goalie, so they might have a chance tonight. |

@ThomasDrance
Dating back a decade - to the 2012-13 campaign - the Vancouver #Canucks have amassed 763 points in 754 games.
That's 26th best of the 31 NHL teams that have played at least 4 NHL seasons over that time frame.
Only Ottawa, Detroit, New Jersey, Arizona and Buffalo have won less.
Top 5 picks only
Buffalo has picked 1st twice, 2nd twice.
Ottawa has picked 3rd, 4th, 5th.
Detroit has picked 4th
Arizona has picked 3rd twice, 5th
New Jersey has picked 1st twice, 2nd, 4th.
Van picked 5th twice.
Van has been bad but other teams have been worse and got some lotto luck.
It would be a good draft to get as close to the bottom as possible. |

The Canucks are less than the sum of their parts.
They have excellent forward depth, with skilled players up and down their lineup. Quinn Hughes is an elite defenceman. Thatcher Demko is an elite goaltender.
But do they have enough speed? Enough toughness? Enough two-way dynamos?
Do they have anyone that can kill a penalty?
The Canucks aren’t a good team and won’t become one until they change the mix.

Blake Price's what a Canucks rebuild could look like Ranger's style.
Buffalo, That’s maybe the biggest and best example of how slow it can be. On the faster side, the New York Rangers.
Well, the Rangers made a quartet of big moves at the deadline. Role-playing Nick Holden was dealt for a player and a third-round pick. Maybe that’s a Tanner Pearson trade in Canucks parlance?
They traded Michael Grabner three days later. Grabner was coming off a 27-goal season, and already had 25 in just 59 games that season. He was older than Brock Boeser is though so that’s not a perfect parallel, and was a UFA to be making only $1.65 million. So call it Andrei Kuzmenko.
Then the two biggies, UFA to be Rick Nash was traded to the Bruins for three players, a first, and a seventh-round pick. Say that’s Bo Horvat.
Followed by Ryan McDonagh and J.T. Miller to the Bolts for three players, a first and a second-rounder. Gonna go Tyler Myers and Conor Garland.
There is a way. But there are no guarantees. The Sabres route? The Rangers route? Or… The Canucks.
I have liked flashes of Kuzmenko so he would be a keep. Schenn, Dermott and Stillman for any pick in any round.
Have to shed some cap space if they plan on doing the Rangers rebuild so they can sign Pastrnak. |

Did they only just figure out the bottom bolded?
Also, calling anyone elite, when they are one-dimensional, is a bit much. |

The fact that you have a personal vendetta against a random on the internet is funny and sad at the same time. You can say "I thought you knew everything" to me but The only reason why you think that is because it's you who actually thinks they know everything.
You and I can have opposing view points and we do but if you can't handle it and have to resort to acting like a child every time. I'm just not going to interact with you anymore. I'm sure you are okay with that.
I've got to go pick up leaves in my yard now. Good day sir.

I think (naturally) our players are being highly overrated on their trade value. Not necessarily how good a player they are, but their worth including their contract and recent performance.
First of all, trades are rare this time of year. There really aren't many throughout the year anymore, but this time especially as everyone has hope that their summer plans came to fruition (except of course vancouver in this case).
Secondly, the contracts. Boeser, Miller immediately lost their trade value once they got signed. The contracts are bloated currently, so a team has to look at what this means next year, year after. To bet on things to magically turn around is not a good bet. In negotiations, usually they are countering that the player will not be as good in the future, whether they believe that are not. It'c become quite easy to believe in our player's cases.
Lastly the recency bias. Again for all the ragging on Boeser, I bet he will score some goals in this league still. Put in the right situation (I don't think it will be in van), sure he has value as just a player still. But his recent injuries and this dumpster fire of a start - I said early in pre-season losing breeds losing ... but losing also breeds losers. Not like, that guy is an idiot / loser ... but guys who have become so accustomed to it, they lose that extra competitive edge where losing is just unacceptable. Combined with a pretty reserved or laid back personality ... I just see no fire out of a lot of our guys. Imho no chance for a 2nd rounder. In fact I would say you couldn't even get a pick for him straight up. The risk is too great with the years left at already an overpayment. Vancouver now has a reputation of getting saddled and saddling themselves with bad contracts. No one wants to get caught taking a bag from a bagholder.
