I would also IF my goal was trying to win. Not the basis for my lineup. Main focus is on player development and spreading the talent around the lineup.

I get that. My reasoning is I would like to see those three grow as a line. Keep them together like the Hanson brothers. Or the Coneheads of team USA. I want them completing each other's sentences for years to come.
No, I don’t think Cates has done something wrong. I just wouldn’t give up on developing him as a center. Here Laczynski can take the right side draws and they can help each other. I would not put Bellows with the kid centers so Laughton gets the job.
TK on the 3rd line??? Boy you are really out-doing yourself with this one. Allison played .. what? .. 6 minutes tonight, Frost only 7 minutes? Interestingly enough McEwen played 13 minutes, just saying. Oh right, and when asked about it in post-game Torts said he couldn't play Frost and Allison because they could keep up the with the Panthers. I mean, how much more evidence than you need? 84 NHL games played and Frost is essentially benched because he can't keep up with the pace of play

I wish they would give the Cates-Frost-Tippett line a look this year.

Personally I think it’s great Hart is the best player on the team. If he can keep this up or something resembling this sort of play all year, this is the face of your organization. This is your first overall pick. This kid saves the franchise and you build upon it.
Oh I know. Torotorella is losing luster quickly in my view. - MJL
He is 5-2 wit THIS lineup. Provy and TK have been reborn. He also has shown he will play any young player if he thinks they are worthy. Why the heck would we possibly not be high on torts right now?
And plez don’t give me the goalie has stood on his head nonsense. We just are not used to good goaltending in this city anymore. We forget what it is like to have it. The rangers for example play far better giving up a ton of shots w their goalie standing on his head.
Many teams get outplayed only to have their goalie bail them out.
We went through all those years from Lindros to Pronger where we dominated teams only to have our goaltending fail. Now it’s the opposite. Folks still are not happy.
Have you not watched the rangers and tampa get outplayed only to have their goalie stand on their heads? It happens all the time.
How can anyone, anywhere bytch about how TK has been handled this year? How is that possible?
He is a new man out there. I even liked how he handled the benching. Not Hayes so much, but TK handled it like a man.

So you think Hart will keep up with a .945 save %?? I can tell you where this is heading. Hart will quickly get tired, not be able to train as much as he would like, and then get injured and miss time again this season. The Flyers cannot keep giving up 51 shots and over 100 shot attempts, since even when shots do not get through, it takes a lot out of a goalie when your team does not have the puck very much.
You're right, having Lacynzski center ND and Mac for 10 minutes a night will do wonders for his development - jd250
Wasn't he projected to be a bottom six center? If so, it won't hurt his development, and isn't he like 25 already? Let him prove whether he can fill that role this year and if he can't cut him loose.

I do not get the Torts dislike here. He is very methodical, blunt, intelligent coach. His pressers are very blunt and explain a lot about his decision making. He just started with the crappy roster and crappy boss- let Torts work.

Exactly. Lacynzski's most likely future role in the NHL is as a 4th line center. My lineup was giving a Bellows a look. Lacynzski can be rotated up if Bellows is not playing well.

He has a method to his madness. It's not about a dislike. It's about puzzling decision making. He says in his presser that McEwen played well. Really? Okay, he scored a goal with a luck deflection. When McEwen was on the ice at 5 on 5, the Flyers attempted 2 shots on net while the Panthers attempted 20. So how is he playing well? Is he playing well offensively? Defensively? How? This team is winning simply because of Carter Hart. Tortorella needs to find a better lineup balance and player usage. Focus on player development. Not what I would normally expect a coach to do but with this team. That is what he should be doing.
