I think Cates and Frost will be wingers if they are sticking in the NHL.
Seeler has been fine this year. I would prefer Zamula get his minutes though. I really want to see what some of these kids have this year. I get why Seeler is playing though.
Wasn't he projected to be a bottom six center? If so, it won't hurt his development, and isn't he like 25 already? Let him prove whether he can fill that role this year and if he can't cut him loose. - rayc16
I actually think Laz is better than a 4th line center, he just needs to play more minutes and gain confidence. I have liked what I have seen from him, but like most other younger players in this lineup, he tends to disappear for long stretches.

Yes, exactly what he said! "I couldn't play them, not against that team". - jd250
That's cherry picking.
He reiterated today, when asked about Allison, that the minutes weren't reflective of his actual play, that he actually did good things. Same probably applies to Frost.
He didn't want anybody from the top-six having to double shift because he felt like the game was getting away from the entire team pretty early.

It's not only cherry picking, but also not what he said.
We got Morgan frost instead!! And that other guy.... what's his name? - Bob Habib

He has a method to his madness. It's not about a dislike. It's about puzzling decision making. He says in his presser that McEwen played well. Really? Okay, he scored a goal with a luck deflection. When McEwen was on the ice at 5 on 5, the Flyers attempted 2 shots on net while the Panthers attempted 20. So how is he playing well? Is he playing well offensively? Defensively? How? This team is winning simply because of Carter Hart. Tortorella needs to find a better lineup balance and player usage. Focus on player development. Not what I would normally expect a coach to do but with this team. That is what he should be doing. - MJL
My opinion, I think Torts has been honest, he needs to play Hayes and Laughtons line a lot to compete, after that he knows, they will get caved in on possession.
Rotating 3 centers with 4 lines has its complexities, I don't agree with playing MAC, Torts wants his top players playing all out and wants to establish an identity, top 2 lines with huge minutes, bangers with the rest, it's a plan. Not fair to Allison or Frost but Torts said they will need to work hard to find their TOI, as long as he gives them a chance to do that, I am ok. Funny, last game he sits the top 2, this game he sits two young players, why do I feel he will challenge them all before it is over.
Personally I think it’s great Hart is the best player on the team. If he can keep this up or something resembling this sort of play all year, this is the face of your organization. This is your first overall pick. This kid saves the franchise and you build upon it. - SuperSchennBros
Apologies to UFAs on expiring contracts: JVR (inj.), Braun, Sedlak, Willman, Belpedio, Grosenick, and Brown (inj.)—Not really building blocks but will no doubt contribute this year.
Serious work to be done on the entire forward core.

Last night, shot attempts for Hayes are 14-23 for 37.84%. For Laughton 11-23 for 32.35%. They're getting caved in also.

I don't see it being done evenly although I'm not expecting it to. My personal opinion is that for this team, player development should trump competitiveness and trying to win. Which is opposite of what I would think under most conditions for a coach's priority. I realize it's early and like you said, he might challenge everyone before it's over. Just don't lose young players because the bench coaching is too hard. I honestly don't see a single player on this team who isn't working hard.

I agree with both statements. It’s a process. Torts said he didn’t know much about the players when he got there. I believe that. He’s trying to figure out all the personalities and what works. Some need a carrot and some a stick. His approach may alienate half the team and benefit the other half. Generally, he defends his players in public and the press.
Yeo was kind of hands off with veterans and hard on younger players. Torts is hands on and more in your face with all the players. Torts downplayed leadership and captaincy imo because he wants to see who emerges. I think he wants peer pressure from the players to get each other to get on board and play for each other. He seems to want to build trust with the players in his own chaotic way and player development is hopefully somewhere there in the process but I can’t see it. He’s a flawed coach with all his idiosyncrasies but he’s had some success.
Anybody here dare to challenge me to a game of chess? 😬 - dubc55
Just back reading now but sure. However, I only play the 1 min bullet nowadays (buzzkill, I know). Too busy to devote real concentration to anything outside work except for such concentrated short intervals. I am also too busy to put in the kind of effort required to get better - just about an average player. I think Hesh is the Chess stud on this board.
Did the board crash last night or everyone collectively and spontaneously dipped? No comments during the game but no explanations for the gap in posts from anyone either. What a strange place this is.

Something happened for sure. I wasn't able to access the site during the game. If try to go directly to the site now, it says site not available. I have to google the site, then click on the response to get here.
I have never had a Harvey’s burger. Sounds sketchy. The worst I have seen was Jack in the Box and Krystal’s. Yikes!

don't disagree, and I do think Torts is prioritizing winning over TOI, he believes he needs it for their identity.

I'm thinking one of the malcontents (they know who they are) hacked the site. Hopefully they are both banned for life.
On another note, can't wait to see the possession numbers for tomorrow night's game against the Canes. I wonder if the Flyguys will actually ever touch the puck?
